Kona Hills Campground

Description

Kona Hills is a rustic campground on 80 wooded acres just 3 miles from downtown Marquette, Michigan. Perched 200 feet above Lake Superior, the property offers a camping experience that feels far from town while keeping trails, restaurants, beaches, and outdoor recreation within easy reach.

Unlike traditional campgrounds, our 40 campsites are intentionally spread throughout the landscape with natural buffers, elevation changes, and room to breathe. Every site includes a fire ring and picnic table, with fresh artesian well water and self-serve firewood available on-site.

This is camping built for simplicity. There are no hookups, showers, Wi-Fi, or dump stations. Instead, you'll find vault toilets, forested campsites, dark skies, and a self-sufficient camping experience designed for people who value space, privacy, and a connection to the outdoors.

Kona Hills accommodates tents, cars, vans, and small RVs and trailers under 24 feet in length.

Camping for people who want to camp.

A developing campground near Marquette with well-appointed individual sites featuring proper amenities. Construction work and highway noise were noted concerns, with mixed opinions on current pricing for the facility's stage of completion.

Has potential

Could be pretty nice when done. But $39 for grass site is a bit much. Consider showers. Even if pay to use....

We're working on showers as quick as we can. It's a bit of a lengthy process with both the stat of MI (EGLE) and our local health department. We're trying for 2026

Secluded yet close to town

Very neat property with small sites tucked away, nice picnic table and fire ring. Definitely would return.

Rustic style camping minutes from downtown Marquette

Nice new campground, still under construction at our time of visit so navigating through to your site is a bit difficult. Note that you can hear the highway from this site. But nice campground if you want to stay close to Marquette.
