Accessible only by watercraft, this National Park Service campground sits on Beaver Island within Isle Royale National Park. Paddlers face a 30-minute kayak journey to reach the dock, where three camping shelters wait less than a quarter mile inland. The shelters operate on a first-come, first-served basis and provide substantial covered space for gear and sleeping.
The island lacks developed trails, and fires are prohibited throughout the area. Campers exploring tent options outside Isle Royale National Park will find additional choices, though this remote location requires self-sufficiency and advance planning for multi-day paddling trips.
