Sherwood Forest Campsite

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Quiet enough to hear the difference, Sherwood Forest Campsite sits in a forested stretch of New Harbor, Maine, with a path to Pemaquid Beach running right from the end of the driveway. Sites have water and electric hookups, and the campground accommodates RVs up to 60 feet. Tent sites sit fairly close together, so the experience shifts noticeably depending on how full the campground is. Visiting just after peak weekends, or in September and October, tends to mean more space and less generator noise, though the campground does limit generator hours.

The bathhouse draws consistent praise across reviews. Showers are coin-operated but reviewers note there's enough hot water for a comfortable wash. The facilities come across as well-maintained, and the campground also includes a dump station, laundry, and WiFi. Much of the campground is occupied by seasonal campers, which keeps a portion of the sites taken but also means the remaining spots tend to be level and easy to settle into.

The location gives campers straightforward access to the Pemaquid area's coastal landmarks. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is roughly 15 minutes away by car, and the historic fort sits close enough to visit without much planning. Pemaquid Point Campground is nearby for campers who want to compare sites in the area. As Susan B. put it, the campground is "dark and quiet, just the way we like it." The season runs May 15 through October, reservations are available, and pets are welcome.

Very Nice Spot

We stayed here right after Memorial Day weekend, so the campground was mostly cleared out and quiet. The bathhouse was very clean (coin-operated showers), and the sites were spacious. However, with more people there, it seemed like it would feel a little crowded, with the tent sites being so close together.

This campground is also very close to a public beach and a very short drive to Darmascota, so overall, I am very happy with the location and experience!

Quiet, unassuming campground

Not many campers here in October. Plenty of room, great showers, even though they cost a whole quarter! Good laundry facilities and restrooms. Dark and quiet, just the way we like it,

Laid back, clean, quiet

The only drawback was the noise from generators but grateful they limited the hours here. Made for a bit of a noisy couple hours during peak times but otherwise a great place! Water and electric at your site. Clean bath house with plenty of hot water…metered but plenty of time. Adequately sized sites with a bit of privacy...everyone was friendly and kind. Not a place with a lot of activity or events but that was our preference. A nice short walk to the white sands beach and short drive to sightseeing.

Very enjoyable

We stayed here in mid-Sept in our class a. This campground was a complete joy! It's the quietest place we've been. No traffic noise from outside. The path to Pemaquid beach is right at the end of the driveway and not much further to the historic fort. The Pemaquid Point lighthouse is 15 minutes away. Much of the campground is occupied seasonally. We had no trouble getting a level site with several more available.
