Fishing and kayaking enthusiasts will find direct access to Greenbo Lake from this Kentucky State Parks campground, which operates seasonally from April through October. The 325-acre lake supports bass, bluegill, and catfish, while marked hiking trails wind through the surrounding Daniel Boone National Forest terrain.
The campground features recently paved roads and a mix of full-hookup sites with sewer connections alongside electric-only and primitive options. Sites are positioned closely together, with some located along a creek that runs through the property. Tom B. notes that "facilities are well maintained and clean," though several reviewers mention the compact site spacing. Some sites present leveling challenges, and campers with lower sewer connections may find the hookups positioned too high for their rigs.
Activities center around the lake and lodge facilities. The marina offers boat rentals and fishing supplies, while a miniature golf course provides evening entertainment. Two playgrounds serve families with children. The lodge restaurant operates with varying seasonal hours that may differ from posted schedules. Firewood delivery to sites is available through the marina office.
Cell service varies by carrier, with Verizon typically providing better coverage than AT&T throughout the campground. WiFi is available but operates at limited speeds. The campground allows pets and offers both reservations and walk-in availability. Sites range from $19 to $44 per night depending on hookup levels.
Summer months bring higher occupancy levels and organized group activities. Campers seeking quieter experiences often prefer primitive sites positioned away from the main camping loops. For additional camping choices in the region, explore campgrounds around Greenup.
Description
Greenbo Lake State Resort Park is named for its central feature, placid Greenbo Lake, in which visitors love to fish. Spending the afternoon on a boat on this peaceful lake is a great way to relax. A lakeside swimming pool with a spiraling waterslide, hiking in the forest around the lake, and relaxing at the beautiful fieldstone lodge at this resort are all favorite activities. The resort's lodge is named for Jesse Hilton Stuart (1906-1984) author, educator, Poet Laureate of Kentucky, and native son of Greenup County. Stuart was continually inspired by the beauty to be found in Kentucky's hills, and many visitors to this park are similarly impressed by its natural beauty.
The park has free WIFI available. The WIFI provider is TengoInternet.
