Hiking, fishing, and swimming give campers plenty to work with at this forested campground inside Carter Caves State Resort Park in northeastern Kentucky. Full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections accommodate large rigs, and pull-through layouts make maneuvering easier for bigger setups. The bathhouse is reported to be clean and up to date. Roads into the campground are narrow and windy, so drivers towing wide trailers should approach carefully. Rates run $45 to $62 per night. Carter Caves State Resort Park Campground sits about a mile southeast for campers who want a non-equestrian alternative nearby.
Description
Beneath the forested hills of this resort, nature has hidden more than 20 twisting caverns. Visit Cascade Cave, where you'll discover a 30-foot underground waterfall. A must-see while you're at Carter Caves is X Cave, where, for millions of years, nature has formed luminous stone fans, pipes and spirals. Above ground, enjoy a relaxing game of golf on our 9-hole golf course, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking on 20 miles of single and multi-use trails.
Golf carts are allowed in the campground by purchasing a permit at check-in. Permits are $25 for the week or $100 for the calendar year. Annual permits can be used at all Kentucky State Park campgrounds and the Kentucky Horse Park. Disabled guests are not required to purchase a permit if they display their disability hanging tag.

Reservations for the Equestrian Campground are accepted ONLY by contacting the Carter Caves State Resort Park Campground directly at 606-286-4411. Select option 4 for the campground. Online reservations or calls to ReserveAmerica are not available for the Equestrian Campground. Camping in the Equestrian Campground is open to Equestrian Campers year round. Non-Equestrian Campers choosing this campground must wait until 10 days before chosen arrival date to make a reservation. As always, all information is SUBJECT TO CHANGE without notice.
Due to weather, Kentucky State Parks cannot guarantee the availability of water or other resources at our campgrounds during inclement weather months when freezing temperatures are possible. Please contact the park directly for available resources if traveling during months that are conducive to freezing temperatures.
