Fishing enthusiasts and water recreation lovers will find solid access to Mississinewa Lake at this established campground near Peru, Indiana. The facility sits on open terrain close to the lake shore, offering both electric-only and full hookup sites ranging from $16-50 per night. Sites feature gravel parking pads, picnic tables, and fire rings on thick grass that works well for tent camping.
The campground draws local families and groups, particularly during special events like reenactments and Fourth of July celebrations with fireworks. Lori J. notes "it's large enough that there's usually a site available" except during these popular weekends. Most sites sit in sunny, open areas rather than wooded settings, with some back-to-back configurations that reduce privacy between neighbors.
Campers can access disc golf, beach volleyball, hiking and biking trails, plus a designated boat ramp with docks for those bringing watercraft. The lake provides good fishing opportunities with a fish cleaning station available for campers, though Asian carp present an ongoing issue. A beach area includes a bathhouse, concession stand, and convenience store, though it requires driving rather than walking from most campsites. Cell service runs limited, with Verizon showing one bar in most areas.
Bathroom facilities show their age and receive mixed reviews for cleanliness and functionality. Several campers report temperature regulation problems with showers and occasional plumbing issues. The campground allows pets but restricts dogs from the beach area. Access roads can become rough, and larger RVs should note that pull-through options are limited to back-in sites only.
Reserve ahead during peak summer months and special events, as this popular spot with Miami and other nearby campgrounds fills quickly with repeat visitors.
