Heflin Park

Very Quiet. You can float down the river. There's a kids playground. Blu Canoes right next door. Fast food not far off. The bugs are a little overwhelming. They spray tomorrow so it may be different.

Small County Park

Very Rural but can be a little noisy.  Very friendly Staff.  Small sites real close to a nice River.  Shady in the AM but it can be pretty hot and sunny to the front of your unit.  Not a good place for 40' and bigger rigs.

I was there last August 2019. I plan on returning very soon. Yes I reviewed this a year after my visit.

Could be better

I don't think people know what quite hours mean. We have stayed here a few times and every time there's multiple parties going on later into the night.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any scenic photo opportunities at Heflin Park?

Heflin Park offers several scenic photo opportunities, with the river being the main natural attraction. The park's waterfront setting provides beautiful views, particularly in the morning when the area is shaded. Nature photographers will appreciate capturing the river landscape, while the playground area offers family photo opportunities. The park's rural setting contributes to its charm, though be aware that bugs can be prevalent at certain times. For the best lighting conditions, morning shots benefit from the natural shade while late afternoon offers warmer lighting across the park grounds.

What do visitor reviews say about camping at Heflin Park?

Heflin Park is appreciated for its proximity to a nice river, offering activities like floating downstream. The park features a playground for children and has friendly staff. Campers should note that sites are small and positioned closely together, making it challenging for larger RVs over 40 feet. The grounds provide good shade in the morning, though fronts of camping units may get hot and sunny later in the day. While described as rural, some noise can be expected, particularly in the evenings when quiet hours aren't always strictly observed. The bug situation can be significant at times, though periodic spraying helps manage this issue. Blu Canoes is conveniently located next door for water recreation, and fast food options are available nearby.

How do I get to Heflin Park from Columbus, Indiana?

From Columbus, Indiana, head east toward Edinburgh on US-31. The drive takes approximately 15-20 minutes covering the roughly 10-mile distance. Heflin Park is situated in a rural area, but remains accessible from major roads. Fast food restaurants are located not far from the park entrance, providing convenient landmarks. For precise directions, using GPS navigation is recommended as the rural setting can make the entrance less obvious to first-time visitors. The park's location near the river provides natural guidance once you're in the vicinity.

What camping facilities are available at Heflin Park in Edinburgh, Indiana?

Heflin Park features campsite areas situated close to a pleasant river. The facilities include a children's playground for family enjoyment. Camping spaces are relatively small and positioned quite close together, making the park better suited for smaller RVs under 40 feet. The park layout provides morning shade, though the front of camping units may experience significant sun exposure later in the day. Blu Canoes is located right next door, offering water recreation opportunities. The campground is maintained by friendly staff who help manage the grounds. Basic amenities are available, though the rural setting means some limitations.
