Walmart — Oswego Supercenter

Overnight parking at this Oswego Supercenter runs on level, near-new concrete with good night lighting and regular security patrols through the lot. Road noise from the adjacent four-lane thoroughfare is present but partially buffered by a tree line. Traffic in the lot itself stays moderate rather than congested. Restrooms inside are well-maintained, and the store covers most resupply needs. Campers wanting a different setup nearby can check out The Home Depot — Oswego about a mile to the southwest.

Upscale Parking Paradise w/ Plenty of Amenities Nearby

If you find yourself in these parts and looking for a piece of pavement to call home for a spell, then this particular Walmart Supercenter west of the Windy City is in pretty excellent condition with incredibly level, almost new concrete pavement with mid-level traffic to be concerned with (partially muted with the tree-line that blocks you from the 4-lane thoroughfare), which also provides a bit more privacy. The only real downside to this location is all of the traffic, so if you expect that ahead of time, you’ll likely be pleasantly surprised that this lot isn’t as jam-packed as many others nearby. As you are in the well-healed suburb of Oswego, you should feel incredibly safe & secure with nightly patrol cars and very good night lighting. While there’s likely everything you need to load up on supplies at this Walmart, if not, nearby there’s Meijer, Target and Aldi’s. Inside this Walmart, the restrooms are Grade A and the staff is incredibly friendly. At night, traffic slows down a bit and despite being located right next to a main thoroughfare, the noise really wasn’t bad at all.

While scoring criteria may vary from one person to the next, here are the 5 most important criteria that informed my rating of this overnight location: convenience (EZ on- and off-access), safety & security, quality (of facilities), peace & quiet and amenities (either on-site or nearby). Here’s how I ranked this particular overnight spot:

Convenience: 4

Safety & Security: 5

Quality: 4

Peace & Quiet: 3

Amenities: 4

Overall, I scored this location a 4.

Happy Overnighting!
