Nice National Forest Campground

Good size campground with both electric and non electric loops. Good number of sites. Generally in need of update. Playground was really rough. Lake provides some fun opportunities and rentals are available. Paducah is pretty close and has anything you could need.

Shower, Sleep, and Power

The older man in the office was kind and helpful. The facility allotted pets, sewer, water, and electric hook up. If had a few mature trees but mainly a place to catch-up before heading off again.

SiteWe used a back in site to get some shade.

Peaceful and beautiful

We stayed as a larger group on a non-electric site. The sites were sort of close together but the trees still helped provide a sense of privacy. There were clean bathrooms with running water a short walk away, didn’t attempt to use the showers. We could easily walk to the trails and we went fishing…

Clean, Fun, and Lots of Features

We were a bit nervous about this campground when reading reviews and seeing the location (there is an Impact Incarceration Program that shares the border), but I'm glad we found it. We booked this spot a few weeks in advance for Memorial Day weekend, and honestly we only booked it because it was…

Nice place to relax

Great clean campground. Has a play ground where kids can have fun all day. Awesome river views are available from atop of the bluff. Few have septic hook ups. There is a dump station available. Great weekend get away. Be sure to check out the snack bar in the park great food.

Giant City State Park

We came down for a spontaneous camping trip to explore SNF and found Giant City to be a great place to stay. We stayed in the primitive camp site, while there were others there, everyone was dispersed far enough that it felt private. Camp grounds were clean, quiet, and the camp host and park ranger…

In need of attention. Illinois needs to invest in parks

State park...really not much to do if you do not fish.  Pit toilets that need attention shower house by the boat ramp ( outside of campground) that were filthy.  They are used by everyone...not just campers so the abuse was evident.  Many large groups camped together which was cool....but the…

Great stay

Sites and bathrooms super well maintained. Sites were big and tucked away into pretty nooks. Close to some awesome hikes, Jackson falls was a fav. Fsho will return

Ok but crowded

The grounds are well maintained. Lots of nice tall trees for shade and grass is mowed on the regular.  There are a few spigots around for fresh water. There a couple hiking trails. But, the RV sites are very close together, so don't expect privacy or quiet days/evenings at least in the Pine Ridge…

zero maintenance run down smelly

Overwhelming smell of dead fish that are laying aplenty on the shores of Ohio Rv. as there is no staff to clean up. Add to this general malaise of zero maintenance mowing or repairing decrepid sites and you get the picture. Did have 30 amp to drive my AC that covered the sound of the work crew…

Nice campground

The biggest thing about this campground is first come first serve..and one loop is closed for renovations (as of 2021 camping season, May). Most you can spend here is 14 days, which lots of locals do. Very quiet family friendly with large mostly level spots. Our go to when visiting the local…

Spring camping

Easy check in, camped in the tent sight. Unfortunately there was a lot of glitter pieces, plastic kid’s pieces and my self along picked up 34 cigarette butts. Besides the the people that don’t care about using a garbage can. Everything else was wonderful. Trail around lake just beautiful, bathroom…

Good, wooded sites

We stayed 2 nights at site 6 in May. It was a roomy, wooded site with water and electric for $22/night. Unfortunately, there was SO MUCH poison ivy that we couldn't play in the woods. But we enjoyed our stay on the beautiful lake! Decent bathrooms and playground but not great. The shower never did…

Overall enjoyable stay!

We stayed here while visiting my family in Kentucky. Our space backed up to a beautiful view of the Mississippi River. The kids loved the big field and playground. My husband loved this place for the history. The road to get there, coming from Fulton, was a bit stressful. Not a whole lot of space.…
