Arrowhead Lake Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Ducks and geese along the water's edge, a maintained walking trail, and level gravel sites define the day-to-day experience at Arrowhead Lake Campground in Johnston City, Illinois. Municipally managed and open from February through November, it draws a mix of RV travelers and tent campers looking for a low-key overnight stop or a multi-night stay near a lake. Campers planning a broader southern Illinois itinerary can browse campsites near Johnston City to compare options in the area.

The campground provides electric (30 and 50 amp) and water hookups for RVs up to 40 feet, plus a dump station, showers, and WiFi. Sites are divided into lakeside spots, wooded spots, and open interior sites, giving campers a real choice depending on what they prioritize. One practical note worth planning around: water pedestals are shared between every two sites, so a long hose is necessary to reach the hookup from some positions. The bathhouse closes at 8 p.m., which is worth factoring in for late arrivals.

Lori W. describes it as "very clean, level sites, large lake with a well maintained walking trail," a sentiment that comes up consistently across reviews. The campground host receives frequent mentions for friendliness, and cleanliness is the most commonly noted quality across the review set. Boat-in access is available, and a boat ramp is on site. Reservations are accepted, and pets are allowed. Given the campground's popularity with returning visitors, booking ahead for summer weekends is a reasonable precaution.

Beautiful spot

Well maintained, friendly staff, peaceful, gorgeous campground! Does not have sewer hookups and water pedestal is every 2 spots so you need a very long hose to connect. But even with those disadvantages, I’d live here!

Great hidden gem

We had a great stop at this campground. We called to secure a site last minute and are glad we found this campground. The grounds were nice, we walked a nature trail and down by the lake. There were ducks and geese, and it was a lovely reprieve from our travels to walk along the edges of the lake. We didn’t use the facilities onsite but it’s valuable to note that the worker said they close the bathhouse at 8. Fantastic prices and such a hidden gem. If we lived near, we would for sure stay again.

Arrowhead Campground

Very clean, level sites, large lake with a well maintained walking trail. Lake side sites, wooded sites and regular sites in the middle. Water, 30 and 50 amp, shower house, small laundry facility. Wifi fiber being installed, boat ramp, primitive cabin, tent camping, large childrens playground. Very nice, quiet, clean. We come here often. $25.00/night.

Average

We stayed here on our way to St. Louis and found it to be average. The campground was clean and run of the mill. The tent sites were adequate and semi level.

Visit was awesome

We stayed here for 4 days and 3 nights. It rained a few days but that didn't stop us from having fun. The campground host and wife were friendly. The hosted a pot luck dinner and even had a singing after the dinner. Would stay here again and would highly recommend this to others.
