Marion Campground & RV Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Positioned directly off Interstate 57 in Marion, Illinois, this private RV park runs year-round and accepts reservations, with full hookup sites available for rigs up to 60 feet. Rates typically fall in the $35 to $45 range per night, and the campground has offered military discounts in the past. Drive-in access is straightforward, though campers should expect tight quarters once inside: graveled sites sit close together, and even pull-through spots leave little buffer between neighbors.

Freeway noise is the most consistent detail reviewers mention. The highway runs close enough that ambient road sound carries throughout the grounds, and at least one reviewer also noted train noise. That said, the facilities hold up well on inspection. Showers, laundry, WiFi, and a bar with gaming are all on site. There is a small playground and an unfenced dog area. AT&T users have reported solid cell signal, though one camper noted they were using a booster. For travelers passing through southern Illinois, those interested in campgrounds near Johnston City will find this stop sits within easy reach of that corridor.

Nearby overnight alternatives include Cracker Barrel — Marion and Pilot Travel Center — Marion for campers who prefer a no-frills pull-up. As one reviewer put it: "This actually feels like a campground and not a parking lot." Marion Campground and RV Park makes the most sense for road-trippers who need a reliable overnight stop with full hookups and don't require seclusion or natural surroundings.

A convenient interstate stopover with well-maintained sites, quality facilities, and friendly staff at reasonable rates. Highway noise is the main drawback, making it better suited for overnight stays than extended camping.

Great campground!

This campground is laid out very well. The showers/bathrooms are perfectly designed down to a shelf in the shower. We had a late check in and the staff was very understanding. I would highly recommend this campground. This actually feels like a campground and not a parking lot even though it’s super convenient to the interstate.

Good for a late-night stop-over

Right off the freeway with very tight spots, even for the pull-through sites. Loud freeway noise. Hosts were flexible for late arrival and pushing our reservation forward a day. Relatively inexpensive ($45ish), full hookups, and felt safe for a quick stopover - so definitely something to be said about that! But certainly not a "destination" or a spot to spend time in.

We have AT&T and had full bars (we have a booster which may have contributed to strong signal).

Would come back as a last resort...

This is a stop-over type of campground. The sites are very close together with no privacy. There are some pull-thru sites, which is convenient. It is right next to interstate 57, so unless you're inside your camper, you'll definitely be listening to the highway. This is a pet-friendly campground, and they have a little dog park. They have a shower/laundry facility which is also convenient, especially if you're out on a big trip. Overall, it's certainly not a bad campground, but the highway noise really bothered us.

Overnight ONLY

Pull thru, 50 amp, full hookup. Bar, gaming, laundry, wifi, and showers on site. Military rate was $35 a night. Graveled Sites are close together. Very loud from constant campers in and out, I57, and a train. Small playground and an unfenced dog area. I would deem this as an overnight place if you didn't want to boondock. No scenic view.
