Love's Travel Stop - Wadsworth

Sitting just south of the Illinois-Wisconsin state line off I-94, Love's Travel Stop in Wadsworth functions as an overnight parking stop rather than a traditional campground. The lot is well-lit and clearly marked, with highway noise from I-94 present but reported as manageable. Restrooms are clean, and an on-site Arby's gives road-weary travelers a quick food option without leaving the property. Amenities include drinking water, showers, WiFi, and a dump station. Families driving through and looking at camping near Russell as a base will find this stop works best as a single overnight layover rather than a multi-night stay.

Family-Friendly Overnight Oasis

Right before you cross the IL / WI state line heading north, Love’s Travel Stop in Wadsworth turned out to be a refreshing contrast to its rough-around-the-edges neighbor (the Citgo across the street), offering a clearly marked, well-lit and far more orderly parking area that felt genuinely welcoming for our little traveling crew. The restrooms were clean, the store was bustling (but not overwhelming) and while there was the soft hum of highway noise from nearby I94, it never crossed into disruptive territory, letting us finally settle in with a bit of peace. For an EZ and family-friendly bite, we grabbed warm comfort food right inside Love's at the imbedded Arby’s before winding down for the night, appreciating how simple and stress-free everything felt. Our favorite moment happened earlier that day at the Bristol Renaissance Faire where after gobbling up oversized turkey drumbsticks, the boys sat remarkably still for a hand-drawn portrait we’ll proudly hang in our hallway as a sweet reminder of that magical afternoon. I would absolutely recommend this stop for families thanks to its safer atmosphere, thoughtful layout and the kind of calm that makes a long day on the road feel just a little more special.
