Nice quiet campground by a lake

Very nice quiet campground.Located by the shore of large lake. I thimk there were 12 or so sites available, each has table, fire ring and bear box. Some are literally by the lake, others further away surrounded by trees. To get to the campground you need to drive some miles on gravel road. Deep into the forest, so no traffic noise, just some wood cutting in the morning ;) There will be two other campgrounds on the way before you reach this one, Cherry Creek (similar to this one but smaller) and a RV and campsite s with marina (forget the name). Campground is owned by the Forest Service, so check on the website if campground is open after season - there may be no access to the campground (barrier) if officially closed. I was there in mid September and it was full.

Tiny Vampires

Beautiful area around the lake. Riddled with mosquitoes around this time of year. Be sure to bring plenty of your favorite mosquito repellent! Rough gravel road access. Be prepared for chips in your paint and a good Carwash afterwards

Nice Campground

This was a nice campground well off a main paved road. About 2 miles of dirt and 2 miles of pavement.  The campground has limited spots but they were clean and wide enough to fit my 28ft camper and long box truck (unhooked and parked next to the camper). There was a toilet onsite and though i didn't use it it looked clean as well. Enough space to get in and out of the campground with no issues and I did see a truck pulling doubles (camper and a flatbed trailer) pulling out one day without any issues. It is all dry camping and does not have any hookups. There are a lot of back roads to get lost on an a few small towns and lakes within close driving distance. All in all, its a great campground that I would stay at again.

Loved it!

Great place to camp for free! There are about 15 sites that fill up really quick! Hebgen Lake is beautiful and so fun to kayak on! The only bad thing is there is no quiet time and people were playing loud music until about midnight.

Great dispersed camping.

Great dispersed camping outside of west Yellowstone. The campground has a great view of a lake. There is cell phone signal (Sprint & AT&T) but it is spotty. Restrooms on site & picnic tables at every site.

I’d stay here again.

Great free camping not far from West Yellowstone. We stayed 6/11/19 and there were still spots available. The gravel road coming from west Yellowstone is very scenic. The lake is beautiful also. Great spots to watch the sunrise over the lake. Dog friendly.

Lake Front Property

After camping on shadow mountain outside grand Teton National forest we picked up our gear and headed through Yellowstone. We weren’t sure what we’d expect to find for dispersed camping around the park and anticipated having to drive far to find something but after stopping at the national park service info station we were point to this site and cherry creek campground. We saw 2 of the 8 spot at cherry creek we’re used so we figured we might as well as check out spring creek since we knew we’d have a spot at cherry creek of spring creek was full. But again only 2 of ~16 spots were used at spring creek. Spring creek had a much better lake front and allowed up to pick a spot not right on the water to avoid the bugs but since it was so empty we pulled out chairs out to the lake to enjoy the sunset before having a fire. Would highly recommend. Open Memorial Day through mid October.

Nice small campground & Ranger review of Ethnotek Premji 20 Liter Day Pack

Spring Creek Campground is a small campground along spring creek in the Lewis and Clark National Forest. The campground sits is a small canyon making this a potentially good campground to avoid the summer heat, which also means a colder camp in the spring and fall. Spring Creek campground has 10 campsite sitting along the creek among mature fir and pine trees, all sites have picnic tables and metal fire rings. The campground has two vault toilets and one hand pump for water. A trailhead is located in the campground and is for a spur on a 15-mile multiple-use trail. Like bears, then your in luck, bears may frequent the area so a mandatory food storage order is in affect. You'll need to keep all food in approved containers or stored in your vehicle as no food lockers are available. It is reported that Brook Trout can be caught in the creek. Want a little more excitement, the campground is subject to flash flooding so keep tabs on the weather as heavy rains at the site or upstream can result in flash flooding. If the creek starts to suddenly rise be prepared to move.

A ranger review of Ethnotek Premji 20 Liter. Travel Day pack. This is an excellent day pack. Just the right size for a full day out on the trails. The Premji 20 Liter has plenty of room for all the gear you will need for a full day in the wilderness. One of the things I like best about the Premji 20 Liter is the side zipper which allows you to easily gain access to items at the bottom of the pack without having to take everything out. A small pocket at the top of the pack is great for holding granola bars or other small snacks or objects. Another small pocket on the back has holders for pens/pencils, your cell phone and other items such as a note book or maps. The pack has two external pockets, one which is a mesh pocket. Both of these will fit water bottles such as a Lifestraw Go, or Camelbak chute. Two sets of double side straps allow you to strap additional items like a jacket to the outside of the pack. The shoulder straps are comfortable even after a full day of hiking. The pack has plenty of padding which means no gear poking you in the back. The only thing I would add to this pack is a chest strap, but this is just because I like having chest straps on my packs. Overall a great pack for a day on the trail.

Great campground, quiet, close to Hebgan

I almost don't want to share my new favorite camping place! Wasn't the best weather when we showed up. Nothing like setting up camp in the rain! Our site was definitely muddy but we still had a great time. We were also across from the bathrooms. Which were clean and well taken care of.

Free water front site, busy in the summertime

A popular spot for locals meant that it was fairly busy when we passed through. Regardless we were able to find a great water front site a good distance away from anyone else. Close to Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.
