Good place to visit with an RV

I've stayed at this park quite often since April 2021. The sites are a bit narrow, with sites A, B, and C having trees placed immediately behind the RV. Sites A and B are setup such that you have good parking right in front of the rig/trailer. At-site parking for all other sites is very limited for one vehicle, but there is ample parking on the East end of the RV area. There are only 7 spaces. RV pads are concrete, with large rock placed between them. There is a grass area behind the pads.

I have stayed there between March and Sept., although it is open year round. People do stay for extended periods (I have stayed for 4 months in 2021, when they initially dropped the length of stay limit.) If staying over winter, be prepared to setup freeze protection on your water.

Base is pretty sparse, but they do have a small market/grill with Breakfast and Lunch offerings, and there is a Bar & Grill on site for evenings. Rec center is a short walk across a jogging track.

Military Park

The Gowen Field complex is accessible by active and retired military only.  I believe there is only one RV/camp location within Gowen Field (there are two showing on the Dyrt map).  There are 7 concrete slab sites with power, none are pull through.  Its a cool area and worth looking into if you have the military credentials!

  • The perimeter of the Gowen Field complex, a lot of cool things to see from the road.

Gowen Field Campground (Military Fam Camp)

This small RV park is open to active or retired military personnel only.  I do not fall in this category so I could not go in but it is near my house so I drove around the base to see if it was visible from the road.  The location of the park is actually kind of interesting.  There are tanks, and heavy equipment on display.  There is also a military museum in part of the complex.  There appears to be nice green space with in the complex.  According to their website, There is a store, a gym with showers on site.  Only 7 concrete slab sites.  Back in only.  Full hook-ups.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Gowen Field RV Park compare to other Boise RV parks?

Gowen Field RV Park offers a more affordable camping option in the Boise area compared to civilian RV parks, though with fewer amenities.
