Idaho City Yurts — Idaho Parks and Recreation State Headquaters

Located within Idaho Parks and Recreation State Headquarters, these yurts provide year-round accommodation accessible by hiking trail. The facility sits about six miles northwest of downtown Boise, requiring visitors to pack in all supplies except bedding and cooking equipment.

Each yurt comes equipped with beds, a wood stove, and basic games for entertainment. Firewood is included with the rental, and the structures heat up quickly even in winter conditions. Campers need to bring all food, personal items, and camping essentials since the site operates more like backcountry camping than a traditional campground. One reviewer notes the importance of double-checking reservation dates, as mix-ups can lead to unexpected departures.

The location offers extensive hiking opportunities in warmer months and cross-country skiing access during winter. Amy S. mentions "lots of hiking or cross-country skiing in the area," highlighting the seasonal recreation options. The yurts maintain cleanliness standards and provide a unique overnight experience for those willing to hike to their accommodation.

For additional camping options, explore campgrounds near Boise. Confirm your reservation dates carefully and pack everything needed for the duration of your stay, as resupply requires hiking back out.

These Yurts are Awesome!

I have only been to there in the winter but I imagine that hiking in is just a beautiful!   You need to bring everything but a bed and stove, which are in the yurt.  Lots of hiking or cross-country skiing in the area.

Hard to hike to in snow

Nice and clean. Easy to warm up. Some games lots of beds. Firewood included in purchase of renting. One time I went I miss read the reservation date and got kicked out by another group. So we had to hike down in a snow storm. It was still fun.
