EZ Roadside Pitstop w/ Ample Parking

Just a smidge north of the Florida-Georgia line on I95, you’ll turn off on Exit 1 heading westward (as heading eastward would land you at the other Pilot Travel Center directly opposite this location on the other side of I95) where this highway pitstop has 8 fueling lanes, 111 public parking spots and 12 prime parking spaces, meaning you can reserve ahead of time (at$18 per night) to ensure you have a spot to call home for the night, which IMHO isn’t altogether necessary as there were substantial parking options to the north and south of this Pilot Travel Center, with twice as much space at its sister property on the other side of I95.

In addition to the parking to avail yourself of, there’s an embedded Dunkin’ Donuts here along with a fairly decent marketplace full of beverages, snacks and other items to help you on your roadway journey. The restrooms were standard and fairly clean when we stopped by with 8 individual shower stalls that were in mediocre condition. There’s WiFi, propane exchange, CAT Scales and that’s about it.  As far as traffic goes, there was definitely some busyness here, but nothing too unmanageable with loads of parking options behind and to the western flank of the property.

While scoring criteria may vary from one person to the next, here are the 5 most important criteria that informed my rating of this overnight location: convenience (EZ on- and off-access), safety & security, quality (of facilities), peace & quiet and amenities (either on-site or nearby). Here’s how I ranked this particular overnight spot:

Convenience: 5

Safety & Security: 4

Quality: 2

Peace & Quiet: 2

Amenities: 2

Overall, I scored this location a 3.

Happy Overnighting!
