    Quick one night stay.

I stayed two different nights on a motorcycle trip to Western North Carolina, November 6 2019, one night up and one night back. Campground was pretty close to halfway between on my trip. I stayed in one of their camping cabins and it was very comfortable and worked out great. Easy access clean showers and rest room. Highly recommended..

Ranger Review: OOFOS Shoes at Cordele KOA

Ranger Review: OOFOS shoes at Cordele KOA Journey

    Campground Review:

Right off I75 in Georgia sits a small KOA with TONS of amenities! Being just a block off the interstate I assumed it would be noisy. But all the trees make a great sound barrier and we had a nice quiet weekend and will definitely be back!

This campground accommodates Campers, with spaces up to 90 foot long! (up to 50 amp), Tents, and even offers Cabin Rental! Has a pool, propane fill station, firewood to purchase, laundry room and updated bathhouse. a dog area, wifi and even offers cable, for the people who like to camp inside 😉

Our weekend cost was about $70 for out tent site, there were a few people staying in a camper long term who mentioned they do offer reduced rates. I didn’t get to check on the cabins, but they look super cute from the outside and run $50 a night if you book online.

Nearby attractions (we did not visit) include Lake Blackshear, a manmade lake, with a really cool dam, and Georgia Veterans State Park on one side. They have a marina and beach. And The Andersonville National Historic Site the location of a Confederate prison where 13,000 Union soldiers died.

    Product review: OOFOS SHOE

As a Dyrt Ranger I was privileged to get a major discount on an awesome pair of OOFOS shoes.

I'm telling you now, this is the most comfortable thing I've ever put on my feet! It's like walking on pillows every step you take! I have arthritis in both my knees and have been having some trouble lately. The day my shoes got here I was eager to try them on, and once I did, they didnt come off the rest of the night! They help with the pain of walking, and my knees havent hurt in a week. I'm in love!

    https://www.oofos.com/collections/men/products/mens-oomg-low-shoe-white-gray

They're made of a really squishy, super lightweight foam. And have a breathable mesh top. I ordered the light gray color, and love the tiny pop of lime green in the logo and little tag to help pull them on. I was hesitant when I seen they had no laces and the rubber strap on top was fixed. But i had no problems getting them on, the mesh is stretchy and my foot slid right in!

My only complaint is that small rocks get stuck in the bottom of the shoe, in the middle tread. But, they're easy to pop out.

They also offer flip flops too, so that will be my next purchase. OOFOS will be my go to shoes from now on!

Use my link for 10% off your purchase!

    Oh the Heat

I rent a little cabin and it was really nice. I usually camp with tents but with the Georgia heat and all the bugs I wasnt going to deal with it this time. I would recommend the same. The cost is fair and they are clean.

    Lots to do!

Even though it a little out of the way, it’s close to Atlanta, adorable small town with cute things to do! We rented kayaks and rode bikes all weekend! The cabins were updated and very cute perfect for a weekend away.

    I love it here

Lots of room. Spacious campsites. The hosts are friendly. Propane tanks picked up and filled for you. There’s a large fenced dog park. Laundry available. Clean bath houses. There are small comping cabins available. I have full hookups. The area is remote and quiet, but the Walmart and dollar store are right up the road if you forget something.

    Indian Springs

One of Georgia’s Oldest State Parks

Indian Springs is near Jackson, GA, about an hour south of Atlanta off I-75. The park has 50-60 camp sites for tents and RVs. Most are back in, with water & 30 amp electric. There is a dump station. WiFi is available at the office. There are modern showers/bathrooms and a playground. There is also a pioneer campground and a group campground, plus cabins. According To the park brochure, Indian Springs State Park in Georgia is one of the oldest state parks in the US. The land was acquired from the Creek Indians by the state through the Treaty of Indian Springs in 1825, and was established as a state park in 1931. The park is named for several springs in the area. The Creek Nation used them for centuries to heal their sick. The water from the springs has a strong sulfur smell and taste. I would not recommend drinking it, but there were people filling plastic bottles of the stuff to take home at the stone Spring House built by the CCC during the Depression. There are several hiking trails, and a stream/creek which runs through the park. There are signs about “No Swimming” but I saw several people swimming anyway. There is a large lake with a boat ramp for fishing. The museum showcases the Creek Indians, a resort from the 1800s, and CCC history.

    Indian Springs State Park Campground

    Quite the place

Set back in a wooded area on a nice little lake. Boats permitted but max HP is 10. Sights are nice, some closer than others. Bathhouse was taken care of and close to Dausset trails if you Mountainbike. Miles of fun trails that connect to the campground. The Springs were fun with a lot of history. Beware of drinking the spring water. Lots of people bottle it up but if you don’t like sulfur I highly do not recommend even taking a sip. Fun little putt-putt course for the kids in the park. It was a nice getaway.

    Indian Springs

    Nice campground - Site 19

1st time for us to Indian Springs. Very clean and well maintained. Site 19 was on a less populated loop and a long stretch of woods on the "driver" side thus no neighbors.  Site was very easy to back into.

We stayed in March, so when the leaves are off the trees, you can see the lake. Kinda doubtful you would during the summer. Gray water dump is very close. Bathhouse was about a 2 minute walk, but didn't use it.

I'd stay on this section again, but maybe across the street. or preferably down by the water.  There's a short drop off behind the fence by the fire ring, that the dog keeps trying to go down and getting stuck - imagine little ones may love that area.

The town of Flovilla is right outside the gates, with  some shops and a nice restaurant. Dollar General is 5 mins away. Dauset Trails Nature Preserve is about 15 minutes away, but note pets aren't allowed. High Falls State park is about 15 minutes away with good hiking trails. Plus boat, and paddle board rentals.

    Georgia Veterans State Park Campground

    Keep it moving

Georgia Veterans State Park sits next to Lake Blackshear and shares the lake front with a resort. There is a marina , condos and a golf course on resort side. On the Park side there is the much more desirable campground:)

There are plenty of options to choose from in the three camping “loops”. Some lakeside sites have direct access to the water and in camping area 1 you can get pretty close to the fishing pier. A lot of the sites are pull through , in area 3 all sites are pull through and several of the sites border one of the Nature trails. The primitive walk in tent sites are in area 3. There are two handicap accessible sites and two double sites for group camping(the other sites are close together so this just puts you on the same “pad”)There is shade but definitely more on some sites then others. Not a lot of privacy. It wasn’t real busy or noisy so the open layout wasn’t a major hang up for me. This is definitely more of a “organized”, well maintained, military feel campground. I didn’t get the State Park in the woods vibe at all :)

There are rental Cottages which overlook the water some with screen porches. There is a fishing pier behind Cottage one and two.

In addition there are boocoo recreation activities:

Disc golf (a little over grown)

    Pioneer Group campsite

    Aviation and Combat Arms equipment

    A museum

    Model airplane field

Outdoor exercise equipment along with an exercise trail

    Nature trails

    Archery range

    Fishing piers

    Large boat ramp

    Small boat ramp

    Excursion Train

A beach with facilities and shaded picnic area

We only took the time to camp and hike but you could easily spend some time here and do something different every day. I’m unfamiliar with the area and wildlife so I kept the boys on short leashes when we walked in the woods , especially near the water. The trails were nice, somewhat maintained and there was old signage plus benches. Not my favorite this trip but nice enough.

    Indian Springs State Park Campground

    More than expected...unfortunate noise pollution

This is a little gem of a state park. Indian Springs State park has a lot to offer. The camp sites are the other side of the lake from the group and public shelters/picnic areas etc so you feel away from everything. The park offers a museum, trails, kayak rentals and more.

The multi-purpose hike connects to the Dauset Nature Center trails and is worth taking the extra mile or so, at least, to go visit the nature center. The hike is rated as quite hard on All Trails and similar apps but, in reality, is fine for most levels. I am recovering from a back injury and this was my first 5+ mile hike in years. It was more than manageable.

One downside of the parks location is that you are close to Jackson and neighboring towns. There were some noises (e.g. loud cars) that could be heard from our site at night. It wasn't constant or overly intrusive. The main complaint was that other humans in the park seemed to not have consideration for their camping neighbors and enjoyed driving golf carts around while playing music at full volume. That can happen anywhere though and maybe shouldn't be a 'negative' for the park.

The park is well kept, comfort stations are fine and staff very friendly and helpful.

    Twin Oaks RV Park

    Wonderful Place to stay!

A great little place to stay in middle Georgia. The staff was terrific! Very clean and well maintained. It was somewhat close to the interstate so expect some highway noise but not bad as there were trees to help block some of the noise. Easy on and off the highway. A staff member to show you to your site. Over-all a great place to stay!!

    No waterfront… no problem

We really enjoyed our stay at Georgia Veterans Memorial SP. we stayed in site 72 on Camping area #3. It faced the woods with a walking path. It was very private with the exception of the occasional hiker. So it was very nice to feel so secluded.

    Scenic Mountain RV Park

    Wonderful private RV park

Traveling across Georgia from NC to visit family in MO, we thought we would stay overnight at a state park. Well GA in all is wisdom has the asinine rule that you must stay two nights even if the park is virtually empty so we were left scrambling to find a nice place to camp. Scenic Mountain is a little gem. A little off the beaten track but easy to find, great roads, super friendly staff, facilities for dogs, and even some short walking trails in the woods. Level sites, fire pits and a nice club house.

    Indian Springs State Park Campground

    Beautiful park and campground

This is a great state park located in Flovilla, Georgia. If about 10 miles off I-75.

We arrived after dark so the main entrance was hard to see. We had to make a u-turn however getting to the sight was clear once in the gate.

The campsite host was very friendly and helps us park the camper. There are no street light in the campsite loops. Which is good to see stars but tricky to park. We had a couple 1000 Lumen flood lights that really helped.

The bathrooms were clean and warm. They were not new, but clean.

The park was on a lake and had plenty for area to walk and ride bikes. We didn’t have chance to fish but it looked promising.

    Georgia Veterans State Park Campground

Very nice and worth and extended stay

We stopped here on our way south to Florida out of curiosity.  Earlier in the year, we had been in Cordele to ride the SAM Railway which was based next to the park and had decided to stop on our way back through and check out the campground.  The GVSP is well maintained with alot of open space, lake access and a historical museum honoring Georgia Veterans.  The camping area is spacious with back in and pull through sites.  The roadways were narrow and paved with the sites being gravel and level in most cases.  Sites along the lakefront are a bit more expensive but the lake can be viewed from any site.  Shower houses are cleaned daily by camp hosts and are well maintained.  We were advised by another camper that sites fill up quickly on weekends but are usually available during the week.  We only spent 2 nights (on a whim) but will return for a longer stay in the future.  A great area for biking, fishing and boating.

    Indian Springs State Park Campground

    Nice private big sites

We reserved a spot yet you pick it when you get there. Georgia is changing that where you can book site specific. We drove through the loops & picked Site #81. It was big, private, on the end with water, electric & cable. There is spring water people come there & collect drinking water. I loved this campground when we were there it was so quiet maybe 2 other campers in the entire loop. We were there in mid June. We had so many lightening bugs after sunset it was amazing.

We kayaked the lake you can fish on the lake too. We were the only ones out there, how relaxing!

High Falls state park is up the road we drove to it & walked around, checked out the camping. I like Indian springs state park better. The pool at High Springs was a zoo, tons of kids & loud. If you're younger with Kids High Springs might be better for you. We hiked along the river to the real falls it was beautiful. We picked up peaches and boiled peanuts near High Falls state park in the Dollar General parking lot. they were the best.

We took a back road coming back from Ingles grocery store & came up on the Dauset trail visitor center it was amazing. There were lots of rescued animals there. Bear, mountain lion, beaver, Bison, Deer, Owls, Eagle, Hawks & more. Beautiful gardens & trails.

We went to the Jarrell Plantation that was really cool.

There is a old grave yard in the park that has so many headstones with just a first name or initials. Some families and doctors and others , dating back to 1830

Ranger Review: Ice Mule Cooler at Crossroads Travel Park

Campground Review: Right off I75, about 45 minutes south of Macon, is a small campground with lots of energy. We stayed here short term while in between moving in our 5th wheel and it was a great time. They offer lots of discounts, and extended stay rates. I think we paid $480 for a full month, which included the lot rent, water, sewer, and power.

The spaces are a little small, and a little tough to fit 2 vehicles in, but everyone was friendly and we made it work. They have both pull thru and back in sites, easy access to all of them. Easy in and out, it looks as if they have a few full time campers there as well. Both 30 and 50 amp were available, and they were all paved, so leveling out was super easy.

They have a pull up station for late nite check in after the office closes and works on an honor system to put your payment in the drop box.

One of the perks I liked is the pool, its available for campers and their guests, kept very clean, and was never crowded when we visited.

They do have a shower house and facilities available if needed as well, we however did not use these. [I was told they needed some updating, but again did not personally use them]

Product review: IceMule Pro in XLarge [33L] As a Ranger for TheDyrt I get to review some really cool products that I get free or can purchase at a discounted price. This time we got an amazing deal on a backpack cooler! OMG amazing! We absolutely love this cooler. It has now become our go-to anytime were going outdoors.

We decided on the IceMule Pro in XL as we needed to keep 3 days of food cooled while our fridge was being repaired. These coolers come in a variety of sizes, this specific model comes in 23, 33, and 40 Liters. There is a few different styles of coolers available too: Classic, Pro, Boss, Jaunt, Urbano, and Traveler. The classic is simple and had 1 clip on Carry strap, the traveler is more of a duffle bag style, but we wanted a backpack style and went with the Pro, all the other options are backpack straps.

We selected the grey color, something neutral that wouldn't draw a lot of heat to the bag. They offer a few variations of color for each style of bag.

This cooler is lightweight, and comfy! Once we added in all our items and clip the straps into place you could wear it for hours.

I really like the rolling top closure, it's super easy to snap the clasp to keep it shut, and easy to open when you need in. The cooler has an air vent on the side as well to add in or remove unwanted air from the bag. This helps regulate the temperature inside the bag. When I first got the bag I wanted to try it out and ee didnt have ice at first but put stuff in it anyway. A few hours later after we got ice, the drinks were still cold! This to me was amazing! Once we added ice, it stayed sold for over 2 days. Even with us being in and out getting drinks and food.

We have already decided to get a 2nd smaller one to use for tailgating this fall!

    Twin Oaks RV Park

    Clean and friendly

We spent two nights here, both as stopovers. Management was helpful in their instructions as we were arriving after hours. The campsites had a grill, table and there was a dog exercise area. The showers were spotless. We will be visiting Twin Oaks again.

    Nice Clean RV park

Stopped for an overnight stay and was able to check in after hours via drop box. Park is very clean with lots of amneties. All sites are pull through. Grounds are well kept. Shower house is nice and clean and even have a club house with games, puzzles, tv, laundry, coffee, tables, books, etc...would definitely recommend.

    Great overnight stay!

We received an email the day before confirming our reservation and to call if we weren't in by 6pm. Our arrival was at 9 so the early call left our check-in info posted and easily obtained upon arrival. I walled through the camp ground the next morning and evey site is well maintained. My site was only off level by 1 inch left to right so leveling and stabilizing were a breeze! Hard packed gravel and well maintained grass medians between sites with an almost new picnic table at every site. The distance between sites (that are easily identified with posted numbers) makes you feel like your not sitting on top of your neighbor. No obstructions for your slides and hookups were clean, maintained and ready to use. A great gaming area and a playgound that is meticulously kept up! You can tell they take pride here and we will definitely be back!!

    Would have stayed longer!

Very nice rv park! Has many amenities that you would find at the "chain" campgrounds at a fraction of the cost. Great staff and easy booking process. Trash pick up, dog park, pool, games! Even had someone to follow to our site, which I have found doesn't happen every day. If we find ourselves in the area in the future, we would be happy to stay again.

Very nice park, actually a 4.5 star!

Check in was a breeze, site level, everything clean and located well for out rig. Property had two bathhouses plenty of clean comfortable facilities. Lots of seasonal and full time and all sites seemed well kept, and neat. Convenient to highway with some noise but better than many. Wi-Fi is better than average near office, at least while others are not trying to stream video or something else bandwidth hungry. Great looking pool, but it is empty. Maybe for winter? Great TV game room and nice laundry (and another restroom, single seater) defiantly would stay here again!
