Overview

Watsadler Campground is a 36 acre site consisting of a relatively dense cover of pine and mixed hardwoods. The area is open year-round and is one of Hartwell___s most popular camping destinations. The site presently offers camping and boat launching facilities to include 1 gatehouse/entrance, 2 park attendant campsites, 51 public campsites with full water/electric hookups, 3 comfort stations (2 with showers), 1 dump station, 1 boat ramp, 1 courtesy dock, 2 playgrounds, and associated paved roads and parking areas throughout.

Recreation

Fishing is one of the most popular activities at the lake. Sought-after species include largemouth bass, bream, crappie, catfish, striped bass and hybrid bass. The lake appeals to boaters of all kinds, whether their specialty is canoeing, sailing or motor boating. Coves and areas of quiet water provide water skiers with excellent surfaces. Swimmers will find sand beaches and designated swim areas in many parks along the shoreline.

Hartwell Lake is a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina on the Savannah, Tugaloo and Seneca Rivers. The dam and lake area boasts 8 campgrounds and 11 day-use facilities that are operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The Hartwell Project was originally authorized for hydro-power, flood control, and navigation. Later, recreation, water quality, water supply and fish and wildlife management were added. January Winter campsite

Long with plenty of space for 37' Trailer & two cars in drive. Concrete parking pad and for.pinic table and fire pit. Lake access but has stone riprap at this site so no shore to land boat. Water down maybe 3 to 4' at winter level rock sand dirt shore line.

Short drive to Hartwell to shop or eat

Peaceful serenity

Have waited six months into our RV life to start reviews for fair comparisons. Spent 5 nights. This was our introduction to ACE campgrounds and we were sold right away. Huge site right on the lake. So peaceful. Not a whole lot to do in the park (fine by me, happy to stare at a lake) but nice long walk to the dam, some reasonable mountain biking quick drive away.

Nice campgroud, but dated.

This is a nice campground, but seems to be in need of some TLC,  The layout tends to give some sites a very good view and lots of room while others are very close, all have picnic tables and fire rings.  The sites tend to be on the small side also, but there are some suitable for larger rigs and plenty of overflow parking.  Bathrooms, though older, were clean and well maintained. The dump station has only a single drain, so last minute checkout leads to long lines.  Cell service was good as was over the air TV.  We stayed in a 30' motorhome and would not have had room for another vehicle on site.  Some sites have room for a tent, some don't.  We found it to be kind of noisy from traffic over the dam and on the road alongside the campground.
