Fishing, hiking, and biking give campers a full activity roster at Cottages at Magnolia Springs State Park, set near a lake in Millen, Georgia. The cottages come with full hookups, electric, water, and sewer, along with picnic tables and campfire access. Rates run $155 to $250 per night, which puts this option at the higher end for the area. Pets are welcome. The Magnolia Springs State Park Campground sits nearby for campers who prefer a more traditional site setup. Reservations are available and recommended given the limited cottage inventory. This setup works best for campers who want full-service amenities alongside lake and trail access.
Description
Beautiful Magnolia Springs State Park is known for its crystal clear springs flowing 7 million gallons per day. A boardwalk spans the cool water, allowing visitors to look for alligators, turtles and other wildlife near the springs. A 28-acre lake is available for fishing and boating. Overnight guests can choose from cottages and a small campground. Magnolia Springs State Park is part of both the Park Paddlers Club and the Muddy Spokes Club.
During the Civil War, this site was called Camp Lawton and served as the worlds largest prison. Today, little remains of the prison stockade; however, the earthen breastworks which guarded it may still be seen. During 2010, Georgia Southern University archaeology teams uncovered the stockade wall and numerous personal articles from soldiers. Their discovery has been heralded as one of the most significant finds in recent history. Artifacts are currently on display at the university and at the Camp Lawton museum located at Magnolia Springs State Park..

A ParkPass is required for all vehicles. Price for ParkPasses are not included with the reservation. Overnight guests pay only one ParkPass fee for the duration of their stay. The daily ParkPass is valid at all state parks visited the same day and is not valid at state historic sites.
ParkPass fees are as follow:
1-12 passenger vehicles $5 per day or $50 annual ParkPass;
13-30 passenger vehicles $30 per day or $75 annual ParkPass;
31 or more passenger vehicles $70 per day or $250 annual ParkPass;
Georgia active duty military/veterans $3.75 per day or $37.50 annual ParkPass.
