Description

**If you are looking for the true Old Florida experience, you'll find it here, at Suwannee River Hideaway Campground. We have a beautiful 116 acre nature-based park. We have level grass sites with patios and fire pits. We do not have paved roads or street lights. We are located on the historic Suwannee River in Old Town, Florida just 12 miles North of Chiefland, 3 miles South of 19/98 in Old Town. ** **We are known for our 1500 ft. boardwalk to the river. We are in a great location for fishing, bird watching, hiking, biking, and boating. You will be afar from road noise as we are off of the beaten path. All you will hear at night are the owls as you sit by your campfire. Our resident owls, and other wild life, are the reason we do not have outdoor lights as it interferes with their hunting, nesting, and natural habitat. We welcome you to bring your family and enjoy nature at it's best! **

Great first time out

Just spent a day and the night there and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Place was great and the lady at the front desk and the host went above and beyond for us.

Great campground

The people are great, the campground is amazing, a little lake with 2 tiny alligators, a pool, campsites have full hookups, good wifi included. The grounds crew keeps the place immaculate. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is the laundry room was in serious need of updating, the washers and dryers were ancient and seriously need replaced. I really loved my night here, the place was beautiful and the staff was great. Was under $50 a night

Nice area

The campgrounds are few miles off the main highway, so no traffic noise. Spots aren't level. Lots of sand and no patio mats allowed. Bath house and laundry are at one end of campground and need updated. Very little light in the showers, concrete floors and washers and dryers work when they want and there is no hot water to wash heavily soiled clothes. Brick patios are too small and fire pits too deep to enjoy. WiFi signal is spotty and too many kids channels and not all network stations on the offered cable.

The campground itself is beautiful. With the right management, staff and advertising (difficult to find as there is no signage on main highway) it could be a great campground!

Nice quiet campground

This is a very nicely kept campground. Clean full hookups or tent camping area. Nice layout and spaced spots. Clean pool and bathrooms great long board walk that leads to the Swanee River. Pet friendly with pet walk area. Staff was very friendly and accommodating small lake with catch and release fish got a few nice size cat fish and had a get visit by a baby gator   Off the beaten path I would highly recommend staying here

Quiet, good location

This was a nice place to stay for a couple of nights. I had site E9, which had some shade and there weren’t many other campers nearby. The people working there are super nice and helpful. There’s a beautiful boardwalk to the river and then a path along the river. It’s a convenient location near the state park springs. Mostly quiet except for landscaping/produce trucks rolling in late at night. Restrooms and laundry could use some updating if you need to use them. Poor Verizon cell service but there are WiFi hotspots on premises. I’d stay again.

Has possibility, needs work

The management and staff were very nice, and they are making improvements to the campground. Definately a hideaway....nice boardwalk to the river. Good luck finding a level site. The sewer was higher than the outlet on our camper, so it ran uphill. Our site was mostly sand and no shade. The bathhouse was nice, but way in the back of the campground, with no pathway to it. We had to either walk between other campers or walk all the way around the campground to use the bathhouse. The fire bowl was too deep to be able to enjoy a fire, and it was closer to the next site than our own. The neighbor's fire bowl was too close to their RV so they couldn'teven use it.
