The Best Dispersed Camping Near Cairo, Florida

Recognized as Florida's first lavender farm by the Florida Department of Agriculture, Southern Grace Lavender Farm is located in the Sand Hills of Southport, Florida just a couple minutes north of Panama City and 40 minutes from Panama City Beach. Wander our lavender field; unwind in the gazebo; cozy up to a relaxing campfire; visit our farm store or shop online for the finest all natural lavender products including lavender plants, candles, wax melts, soaps, body scrubs, body lotions, body oils, bath bombs, aromatherapy sprays, essential oils, pillow sprays, sachets and more.  

Southern Grace Lavender Farm also boasts a prime location for fun. Take the family to Coconut Creek Family Fun Park or Shipwreck Island Waterpark. Swim with the dolphins at the Gulf World Marine Park or take a walk on the wild side at the ZooWorld Zoological and Botanical Conservatory.  

RV Sites Back-In| Pull-Through 

We have three standard back-in RV sites with 20-, 30- or 50-amp electric service that includes a picnic table, charcoal grill, fire pit and a concrete patio pad. We also have two pull-through sites available that can accommodate Class A, B, and C motorhomes and/or guests arriving with travel trailers or 5th wheelers.  

NOTE: The pull-through sites DO NOT have electrical service, patio pads or charcoal grills at this time.

Enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere at our Panama City Beach RV resort. At Emerald Coast RV Resort you’ll have a great selection of big-rig-friendly sites available, plus gorgeous park models to rent or buy. Take a dip in one of our two heated pools; unwind in the hot tub; stay in shape at our fitness center; or challenge a friend to a game of bocce ball or volleyball. Raccoon River Campground

From White Oak Landing, boats can launch onto the River Styx for an approximately three mile trip to the Apalachicola River, or head upstream to its quieter, slower moving reaches. The primitive camping area serves as a hunt camp during general gun season.

The Sand Pond Campground can be found at the Pine Log State Forest Recreation Area. All sites are fully equipped with electric and water hook-ups. Restrooms with showers and a sanitary dumping station are located on-site. 

The Sand Pond Group Camp is available for youth groups. There are two small picnic pavilion areas, fire rings and access to water. The area is near the restroom and shower facilities but separate from other camping.

Primitive campsites are available and are dispersed along Pine Log Creek. Primitive campers are not entitled to use of restrooms or shower facilities. A gate combination is required to access the primitive campsites.

Sand Pond Campground - Pine Log State Forest

## Overview

Camel Lake Recreation Area provides a quiet place to relax and take in the beauty of the longleaf pine forest. Camping, swimming, hiking, and boating opportunities are all available, focused on the crystal-clear waters of Camel Lake.

## Recreation

Above the lake's rim, the focal points of this recreation area are the well-shaded ten-site campground, suitable for RVs or tents, and the day use recreation area with its picnic tables, picnic shelter, and sandy beach for swimming. A short loop trail surrounds the lake, with longer loops possible incorporating the nearby Florida National Scenic Trail. 

## Facilities

Some of the campsites have electricity, and there is a bathhouse with flush toilets in the campsite and in the day-use area. A campground host is always available. The day-use parking lots, picnic areas, and restrooms are accessible. Hours of operation through the summer are 8 am to 8 pm (April 1st - Oct 31st) and through the winter are 8 am to 6 pm (Nov 1st - March 31st). 

## Natural Features

The Apalachicola is one of the most bio diverse places in the world, and Camel Lake places you in the middle of this natural treasure. You will be surrounded by tall longleaf pines and wiregrass, while seepage slopes in the forest create pitcher plant bogs. Rare pine savannahs are just to the south and the creeks and swamps around host a wide variety of animal life. 

## Nearby Attractions

Nearby, several boat landings provide access to the numerous creeks that feed into the Apalachicola River. The Apalachee Savannahs Scenic Byway and the Big Bend Scenic Byway provide beautiful views of pine savannahs, and they make excellent routes for trips down to the coast, which is only about an hour south.

Campers must make a reservation by calling (850) 373-1801 to receive the combination to the locked gate for the primitive campsites.

We have pull through sites up to 110 feet long, over 50,000 lbs no problem. 24 full hook-up sites.

Each site has 20/30/50 amp power, water, sewer , picnic tables and some have fire rings.

Hitchinpost Corral and Campground RV Park

A picturesque campground situated among cypress stands along the bank of Owl Creek, Hickory Landing provides easy access to the Apalachicola River. There are 10 sites with picnic table and grill. ACTIVITIES Boating: Hickory Landing, on Owl Creek, is another excellent put-in for the two-mile trip to the Apalachicola River. Owl Creek is deep and wide, lined by the beautiful river swamp habitat of the Apalachicola floodplain. Camping: Campsites have picnic tables and grills. Vault toilet nearby. Hiking: Access to the Wright Lake Trail, a 4.6-mile loop. Wildlife Viewing: Excellent birding.
