Moses Creek Conservation Area

Where Moses Creek winds through northeast Florida's conservation lands, this county-managed campground provides free overnight camping about 10 miles south of St. Augustine. Campers access the site via a half-mile hike from the parking area, carrying gear to a spot near the creek. The area supports various recreation activities, though visitors should prepare for ticks and spiders common to Florida's wetland environments. Bug spray proves essential for comfortable camping. The remote location typically sees light use, with campers often finding the area unoccupied even on weekend nights.

Quiet and peaceful

We stopped here desperate for a spot on a Saturday night. Not a single car in the lot and no one around. A brief half mile hike to the spot and it was just perfect. Definitely bring bug spray, there are lots of spiders and ticks in this area. We were doing one night but this seems like a great area for recreation of all sorts.
