Description

The Hurricane Lake North Youth Group Camp is located within the Hurricane Lake Recreation Area, in the Blackwater River State Forest (Okaloosa County), about 1-hour northeast of Pensacola, FL. This youth group camp is located on the north side of Hurricane Lake (318-acres) and has the following facilities: primitive campsites, nearby water (potable), boat ramp, restrooms, and showers (available in the Hurricane Lake North Campground). Recreational activities featured here are: fishing, boating hiking, picnicking, bird watching, wildlife viewing, nature study and photography.

No swimming
North Hurricane Lake Youth Area has water at the group camping site but no electricity. Restrooms with showers are available in the campground. North Hurricane Lake youth area and its vicinity is in a non-hunting zone. During the main hunting season from Thanksgiving to mid February, it is recommended to wear fluorescent orange when hiking away from the camping area.

Directions

From Interstate 10 take Exit 22. Turn north on Avalon Boulevard and travel to Highway 90. Turn right at Highway 90 and travel to Highway 87 also called Stewart Street at the Burger King restaurant. Turn left. Travel .8 miles to the Milton High School and turn to the right onto Highway 191 also called Munson Highway. Continue 19.5 miles miles until you reach Highway 4. Turn to the right onto Highway 4 and travel 2.7 miles to the Hurricane Lake sign. Turn to the left . Continue north on this road 8.6 miles until you see the North Hurricane Lake sign on your right. Follow the road 2.1 miles back to the lake. In the campground look for a gate that takes you back to the youth site. Do not turn at the South Hurricane Lake sign.
