Off a challenging dirt road requiring high-clearance vehicles, 52 Landing sits along a creek within Ocala National Forest. The US Forest Service manages this small site with just five or six primitive campsites. Campers should expect a 20-30 minute drive on rough terrain to reach the area.
The campground provides basic amenities including cell service and allows alcohol, but lacks restrooms, showers, and hookups. Past visitors report maintenance issues with leftover trash from previous campers, and stray animals frequent the area. The creek access offers the main draw for this remote spot, though campers need self-sufficient setups and sturdy vehicles to make the journey worthwhile.
Description
The primary access point to Alexander Creek, 52 Landing (also the site of the Bluff Landing primitive camping area) is the take-out for a downstream paddle of Alexander Run or can be used as a launch point for a paddle upstream. It is bordered by the wild and wet Alexander Springs Wilderness, which you can explore with a paddle downstream. Primitive camping is permitted on a bluff above the boat ramp.
