Description

Hurd State Park was the second state park in the Connecticut State Park system. It affords the visitor scenic views of the Connecticut River, while surrounded by nature. The Hurd State Park Campground is one of several sites designated solely for the use of campers arriving and departing by canoe or kayak. These campsites are accessible and for use by those in canoes or kayaks only. Overnight parking is not permitted, and no campers or visitors are permitted to arrive by vehicle. Pets are NOT permitted in the camping areas. These are primitive campsites. Fees are $5 per person per night. All persons staying overnight MUST be registered campers who arrive by kayak or canoe. Campers must break camp and vacate the site by 9am. If reserving this site for consecutive days, please note the site needs to be completely vacated by 9am, and may be set up again later in the day. No camping equipment or personal belongings may remain on site after 9am.

Please note that this campsite is designated for access from the river only - campers must arrive by kayak or canoe. From the North and West: Take Route 691 or 9 to Route 66 to Route 151. Hurd State Park is on Route 151. From the South: Take Route 9N to exit 7, to Route 82, over the bridge, to Route 151. Hurd State Park is on Route 151. From the East: Take Route 2 West to Route 16. Follow Route 16 W to Coblat, then onto Route 151. Hurd State Park is on Route 151.
