Tonahutu Meadows Backcountry Campsite — Rocky Mountain National Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Wildlife viewing and mountain sightlines draw backpackers to this hike-in site on the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. The route passes through a burn scar for much of the approach, but the campsite itself sits among live green trees that provide coverage and can be spotted from the adjacent meadow. Fresh animal tracks have been reported at night. Reservations are available, and fees run up to $36 per night. Nearby, North Inlet Backcountry Campsite — Rocky Mountain National Park offers another backcountry option roughly three miles to the south.

Lush in Burn scar

Backpacked to this campsite in the summer. It is in a burn scar for most of the hike. The campsite however is surrounded by fresh green trees and give good coverage and can spot it from the meadow. Great views of the mountains and granite falls. There was wildlife present at night not so much during the day but fresh tracks were present.
