Within Delaney Butte Lakes State Wildlife Area, South Delaney Lake operates as a dispersed camping area managed by Colorado Parks & Wildlife. Campers create their own fire rings using rocks, as no established fire pits exist on site. The lake maintains no-wake regulations, making it suitable for paddleboarding and fishing from small boats.
Vault toilets are positioned up to a mile from some camping spots. Heavy mosquito activity occurs during summer months, with insects following watercraft hundreds of feet from shore. Wildlife sightings include otters, though larger animals move through the area at night. The East Delaney State Wildlife Area provides additional dispersed camping less than a mile away.
