The campground is close to the Animas River and a bike path, making it easy to enjoy outdoor activities. Visitors have highlighted the great location, noting that it’s just a short distance from downtown Durango, where you can find shops, restaurants, and the scenic train ride to Silverton. One camper mentioned, “You can’t beat being in Durango for that price.”

While the sites are gravel and fairly basic, they are level and functional for RVs and tents alike. Some campers have pointed out that the area can get a bit noisy due to nearby maintenance activities and the train, but the trade-off is easy access to local attractions. Electric and water IN TOWN!

Not a spectacular view, but 6 large spots close to the free shuttle, bike path and rec center (totally worth the day pass) . Great for the price to spend a few days in durango or take the scenic train. Angela at the office is great!

Convenient and cheap

What a find in the middle of Durango. Yes it is dusty and really there is nothing cute about it but you can’t beat the location. We had access to the trails by the river. There are only 6 spots with water and 30 or 50 amp electric. It was $28 for a night. Angela at the front desk was super helpful. Must call in advance. On main street turn at 25th street, google will send you to 26th and that is not good. You could park a semi in there. You can’t beat being in Durango for that price.

Good location

Basically a gravel lot with electric and water at each of the six slots. Good location close to the center of town. Trolley stop across the street will take you to Main Ave for $1 each way.

Bare minimums but good location

This is a small area at the fairgrounds that has space for 6 RVs. All of the sites are back in with 30 amp power and a shared water connection. There are no sewer connections but there are several dump stations in town. There are no showers or restrooms. The sites are gravel and pretty level. Our Verizon and AT&T hotspots both worked well and cell service was good. There is what looks like a maintenance area behind the campground so there was traffic back and forth most of the day that kicked up some dust. It was also a bit noisy. The Durango to Silverton train runs right next to the fairgrounds and that can be a bit noisy too. The Animas River trail is within walking distance. There is also a town trolley service that will take you into the main part of town. The weekends can have events going on which could make it a bit tight to get in and out with your RV. Overall, this was an ok place for a few days but it is certainly nothing fancy. It was very affordable though.

Noisy but central and cheap

You can't beat the central location and access to bike trail. Sites back up to the maintenance department and they are in and out on ATVs and bulldozers a lot!!
