Description
Pike National Forest's South Park plateau sits at roughly 10,100 feet in open, high-elevation terrain — wide skies, sweeping 360-degree views, and scattered spots along FSR 669 that range from full-sun clearings to pockets of partial forest shade. Access requires driving through a private ranch (follow posted forest-access signs) before reaching the forest service road, which is generally passable by passenger cars but roughens after rain and closes seasonally until mid-July. Multiple small pullouts along the road accommodate everything from tents to larger rigs, with strong cell signal visible from the ridgeline.
