Sitting along the White River on BLM land west of Meeker, this dispersed area has two spots directly on the water, accessed by a narrow, downward-sloping road with deep, water-filled potholes that require a high-clearance vehicle. Low-clearance rigs and RVs should not attempt the approach. The site neighbors private property, and at least one reviewer reports an aggressive landowner who monitors the boundary; campers who stay should position themselves well away from the fenced property lines. No pets are allowed. Cell service is available, and alcohol is permitted. Those researching campgrounds near Rangely will find this one among the more rugged and situationally complicated options in the area, better suited to self-sufficient campers in capable vehicles who are prepared for an unconventional stay.

To access the Big Trujillo River Take Out-Put In Site travel Rangely, CO. Then travel south off State Highway 64 near the Loaf N Jug gas station on the west side of town onto River Rd, which becomes County Road 2. Travel approx. 5 miles on County Road 2 and turn right on a dirt road just past the Entering Public Lands sign. Travel approx. 0.1 mile to the river access site which includes a parking area and easy river take-out/put-in site.
