Description
Along the edge of the Rio Grande National Forest near Creede, FR 806's trailhead pullout doubles as an open dispersed camping area with sweeping views of the surrounding San Juan peaks and the valley below. The gravel surface is well-maintained and spacious enough for large rigs, though uneven ground means leveling blocks are handy — and with no windbreak to the north, expect cold gusts after dark. CDT through-hikers use the trailhead starting early in the morning, so overnight stays feel most settled on quieter weeknights.
