Accessible via forest roads, Road Canyon provides basic camping within Rio Grande National Forest with vault toilets and sites accommodating RVs up to 16 feet. The US Forest Service manages this established campground from April through September, positioning campers in forested and open terrain near both river and lake access.
Sites work well for tent campers and smaller RVs seeking forest service camping without hookups. The seasonal operation aligns with mountain weather patterns, closing before winter conditions make forest roads impassable. Campers can explore tent sites around Rio Grande National Forest or check nearby River Hill just 2.7 miles southwest for additional options.
Description

An undeveloped overflow camping area is directly across the road. A vault type toilet is provided, but no trash receptacles (Please pack out your trash). No firewood or drinking water are available.
