Routt National Forest's Pines Campground sits along a creek outside Walden, managed by the US Forest Service at $10 per night with drinking water, toilets, and trash service on-site. Beetle kill has removed nearly all tree cover, leaving most sites exposed with limited shade and rocky, stumped ground that makes tent setup difficult in several spots. Site 1, positioned along the creek, has the most usable tent space. RVs and trailers up to 22 feet fit more comfortably here than tents. State Forest State Park Colorado is a nearby alternative for campers wanting more developed facilities.
