Free dispersed camping along County Road 103 north of Chambers Lake runs the full length of the lake and continues well past it, giving campers a range of site types at no cost. The dirt road off Highway 14 is wide and well-graded, manageable for a standard 2WD vehicle, though conditions can change after weather. Sites near the lake are wooded with lodgepole pines, offering shade and spots suitable for hammocks, while those further down the road open into former burn area from a 2020 fire, with more space for larger rigs up to 30 feet. Campers exploring the area can find campgrounds near Gould as a reference point for the broader region.
Site layout divides roughly into two zones. The lakeside sites along the first stretch are large and private, but the bank down to the water is steep and accessible only from certain points. Larger rigs and trailers are better suited to the sites further along Road 103, where the terrain flattens out and turnaround space is available. The Chambers Lake Campground sits on the opposite side of the lake, about a 15-minute drive around, and provides a developed alternative with more amenities. The Barns Meadow Reservoir is also nearby, though vehicle access there is restricted.
Fishing draws a steady number of visitors, with both Chambers Lake and Lost Lake seeing regular use from anglers. Kayaking and paddleboarding are also common on the lake. The Lost Lake trailhead, a short drive or roughly 15-minute walk up the road, provides vault toilet facilities, the only restrooms in the area. No water, hookups, or trash service are available on-site, so campers need to arrive self-sufficient. Cell coverage is limited, though at least one reviewer confirmed Starlink works at this location. Weekends fill up noticeably faster than weekdays. This site works best for self-contained campers who prioritize lake access and low cost over developed amenities.
