Hidden Jem!

Great sites here. Whether you’re car camping or in an RV pulling a trailer, this spot has sites that can accommodate both!

Once you turn off main road onto dirt road from 14 you will find a wide well groomed road that could easily be driven by a 2WD car. Sites are on both your left and right sides once you pass the only vault toilet on the road. These sites are primarily for vehicles not towing trailers. I saw maybe one or two that maybe could accommodate a trailer but it would be tight. Sites here are very large, private and wooded. Sites on left side are on the lake but the lake is down a very steep bank so I doubt you could get to it easily. For larger rigs keep on driving. Once you get to the end of the lake, keep driving about 1.5 to 2 miles, you will see a turn off to the right. Take it. Here you will see many Large sites that could easily accommodate an RV and trailer. Roads here are excellent. Most of the sites have a lazy stream running through them. Beautiful with the Mountain View’s. Sites are flat with lots of dead wood to burn from the forest fire here in 2020 so bring a chainsaw if you want free wood to burn. This road also has a turn around so no need to back out if you cannot find a site.

Downsides: Very remote! Make sure you have plenty of gas and supplies as the closest real place to get supplies is Fort Collins an hour and a half away. If you’re looking for places to ride sxs or Jeeps this may not be your place as there isn’t many “designated” trails close by. Plenty of forest roads though. If you’re looking for hiking, canoeing, kayaking and fishing this is your place with plenty of options nearby.

Overall an excellent spot with lots of beautiful campsites that can accommodate lots of different sized vehicles.

PS - Starlink worked excellent here.

Amazing camp spot

There are many spots right off the road, all spots are clearly marked, some you can drive into others require a small walk down. Such a beautiful lake that is not too crowded. There are also numerous spots further down road 103 past the lake. Great spot for fishing, paddle boarding and star watching. Will certainly be back

Great For Large Groups

We drove up here on July 3rd hoping to camp at Barnes Meadow Reservoir. You can't drive in to Barnes Meadow so we took County Road 103 north around Chambers lake and found a lot of open spots beneath lodgepole pines. Several spots have a large pull in parking area where you could have a large RV, truck and trailer, or park several cars. I couldn't help thinking this area is perfect for a large group to set up several tents and have several individual campsites with their own fire right next to each other.

There is no water, electrical or toilets, but there are toilets at the Lost Lake trailhead which is a 2-3 minute drive up the road or a 15 minute walk.

We did walk down to the lake right behind our campsite. The bank is steep but passable by kids so most people can get down there and back up. We fished a bit in Chambers and Lost Lake. On the other side of the lake is the improved Chambers Lake Campground but it's a 15 minute drive around to the other side of the lake. And a further drive up Rd 103 takes you to lots of stream fishing, hiking trails, and more dispersed camping.
