BLM Mountain View

A bumpy but passable road leads to this free, primitive BLM dispersed site outside Eagle, sitting in open terrain with no shade cover. The site has a fire ring and little else. No shade means midday heat can be significant, so arriving in the morning or evening hours helps. Campers heading into the area will find Walcott BLM campground roughly 1.6 miles south as an alternative with comparable access. Bring water, sun protection, and expect a rough but manageable drive in.

Solitude high up

Can confirm the views and location are superb, but very primitive with zero shade. As the other reviewer mentioned, the road is passable but extremely rough. We have an off-road square drop, and found 4H very helpful to negotiate the way up. It’s a very isolated site, was our last resort since there was zero availability anywhere else in the area on Labor Day weekend. We only encountered a few dirt bikers, and no other dispersed campers along 8502. It does get very windy in the late afternoon this time of year, so plan accordingly. A very quiet site. Evidence of quite a bit of wildlife activity, but only encountered birds and bugs during our stay.

Beautiful mountain spot

Rough road, be prepared. Nothing crazy but definitely bumpy. Great spot, no shade so it can get very hot. Nice fire ring, very primitive.
