A challenge to get to but worth it for the view

Absolutely requires four-wheel drive for two and a half miles of extremely rough unpaved road that goes up a thousand feet. Beautiful views and some shade but no break at all from the wind which can be intense up here. BLM land and other than some broken glass left by idiots it is very clean but this is completely a self contained location. I don't regret bringing my travel trailer up here because it's meant rough roads but had I known the road was this rough I wouldn't have started so be ready for 3 miles an hour until you get to the top of the hill.

Rough Road, Good Fire Rings

Had no problem getting up in a Subaru Forester, but very rutted out. Not recommended for trailers or sedans. Got in late and found a spot on a busy holiday weekend, it was forested with a good rock fire ring but some trash left over. Felt secluded enough but had hiking trails around. Saw a few other cars.

Super rutted out, but unbelievable views

Definitely would advise 4x4, and not for travel trailers at all. Bringing one up could lead to a serious situation , since there are no places to turn around whatsoever. That said, views were absolutely breathtaking. We also lucked out and saw the northern lights while at site.

Tough trail post rain

Camp sites here are not well defined (look for fire rings). The trail is heavily rutted, and if it just rained gets incredibly muddy. Would definitely recommend a vehicle with decent 8”+ clearance, and decent all terrain tires if using the trail post rain. Otherwise my dogs loved playing in the sage brush.

Easy access by a forester

Efficient for the evening. Sites are a bit unclear. Hikers on road in the AM and bikers on trail nearby. Good for a drive through on 70
