Anvil Campground Mineral Creek

Just north of Silverton, Anvil Campground Mineral Creek sits along rushing Mineral Creek at 9,500 feet elevation. This dispersed campground accommodates RVs up to 40 feet, though the first entrance presents challenges for larger rigs. The second entrance provides better access for big rigs, as one camper discovered after spending ten minutes maneuvering a 35-foot truck and trailer combination out of the first site.

Several sites sit directly beside the creek, where rushing water provides constant sound. The elevation creates mid-70s temperatures during summer but can make breathing more challenging for some visitors. Campers can easily reach Silverton for supplies, and the area offers fishing access along Mineral Creek plus hiking trails and OHV/ATV opportunities. Kendall Campground provides another option just east of this location.

Busy but beautiful free spot

Just north of Silverton colorado, there are two campgrounds but they tend to be busy. Both of them are on Mineral Creek. Not all sites are accessible to large rigs. The second entrance to the campground is better for large rigs as I went into the first with my truck and travel trailer total length 35 ft and it took me 10 minutes of turning around to back out of the first site. Several spots right next to the creek and it's rushing well so the sound of Rushing Water is wonderful and the temperature up here is perfect in the mid-70s. Very close to Silverton so easy to get supplies and it's 9500 feet up so breathing can be a bit challenging but it's worth it once you get here.
