Day trips into Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are the main draw at Sequoia RV Park, a privately managed campground in Dunlap, California that puts RV travelers within close reach of both park entrances. The surrounding terrain is open California foothills, with mountain views visible from the sites themselves. Linda B. describes it as "beautiful view of the mountains and very close to the park," which lines up with what several other reviewers note about the sightlines across the open landscape. Campers who want a functional base for national park days without paying park-adjacent lodging rates tend to find this setup works well.
The sites are large. Multiple reviewers mention that the spaces can accommodate long combo rigs with enough width to disconnect and park a tow vehicle alongside. Full hookups, including water, electric, and sewer, are available, and as Stephen M. puts it, "water, power and sewer as advertised." Tent campers and dry rigs have access to showers at the office building, though at least one reviewer flags low water pressure in those showers. Laundry and free firewood have also been mentioned across multiple visits.
Camp hosts Carlos and Luz come up repeatedly in reviews, and not just in passing. When an electrical issue arose at 10:30 at night, the hosts responded within 20 minutes. That said, some visitors have arrived to find the office unstaffed, WiFi passwords not working, and electrical hookups out of service on certain sites. Cleanliness has drawn complaints too, with one reviewer noting the presence of long-term residents and accumulated clutter around some trailers.
Access via California State Highway 180 is straightforward, and reviewers consistently recommend entering "Sequoia RV Park" specifically into GPS to avoid confusion with a similarly named resort nearby. The park runs May through September. Rates run $40 to $55 per night, with reservations available online, though the site assignment process is informal once you arrive. Pets are allowed. For those exploring campgrounds near Dunlap more broadly, nearby options include King's Canyon Mobile Home and RV Park and Dunlap canyon retreat a few miles out.
Sequoia RV Park makes the most sense for RV travelers prioritizing proximity to the national parks over resort-level polish, with full hookups and responsive hosts offsetting an atmosphere that leans more functional than curated.
