            Mostly seasonal RVers over 55

I was looking forward to this campground and booked five nights. There are some really nice amenities and pools. There is a golf course on site and my husband played. We left early because we felt isolated in our camp location and felt like we were not as welcome as shorter timers. Office staff cold and overcharged us.

Bonita Mesa RV Resort: A Disappointing Choice for Families.

My family and I recently stayed at Bonita Mesa RV Resort, and while it does allow children, there are some drawbacks. Firstly, they charge$10 per night for every person over two people, which can add up quickly. We ended up paying $89 with the"having children" penalty. Additionally, they do not allow more than two pets, although we saw many sites with multiple dogs. Unfortunately, we also found that the campground was not clean, and the sites were incredibly tight. If you have more than two cars, it can be difficult to find a place to park. I also suggest not letting the RV host help you park if you have a big rig, as they were very kind but caused more harm than help. On a positive note, the pool was clean and some hours were set aside for children. The laundry room was also great, but again, the price didn't justify it. Overall, finding a decent campground in Yuma can be a challenge, especially if you have a family. While Bonita Mesa RV Resort does allow children, the drawbacks may not make it worth the price. If you have a family, I suggest finding somewhere else to stay.

            Plenty fine...all we wanted

We'd reserved in advance, and unlike most everyplace, there wasn't a paper or tag to tape to our pickup or trailer. We just parked & hooked up. (FHU) in the spot they had designated to us over the phone, and nobody hassled us. I feel this place is just about the right amount of urban/rural for an easy stopover - we could still get fancy coffees in the morning (Dutch Bros) but didn't have to do much city driving with our travel trailer. We managed to park (back in) without un-hooking the TT, too, saving some effort the next morning. Bathrooms in central activities building around the opposite side from the pool. We borrowed a dvd from the lending library dor the evening.

We really enjoyed our stay at this RV resort. The residents are very friendly, guess they like the constant new folks coming in all the time. Ask the residents about the attractions. They have great suggestions as what to go see. We were in the back part of the rv park, so road noise was at a minimum. The 2 pools are heated. Loved the hot tubs. Nice bathrooms and showers. They have 2 ply toilet paper. Real easy to get around town. Interstate 8 goes from one end of town to the other. Has everything you need or want. Lots to do there. We had a nice concrete pad for our porch. Separate parking for our vehicle next to camper. Also Mexico was real close. They only have free WiFi at the lodges. Was not offered to use WiFi that shows up while your there. Little to no antenna tv. They did not have 5g cell, only LTE coverage. Was able to stream thru cell service. We have T-mobile.

Great 55+ park in Trails Collection

We stayed here in Jan/Feb and really enjoyed the sunny, warm weather and vibe at Cactus Gardens. The staff was friendly and there are lots of activities to do. There are 30/50 amp FHU sites and all are back-in. They are a little narrow, but a wide road for maneuvering. There is a pool, huge dog park, darts, shuffleboard, park, billiards, library, laundry, and community room. It is centrally located in Yuma and close to everything, including the Mexico border. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. 👍🏻😬

            Encore Araby Acres

For an Encore park, Araby Acres is one of the best in AZ. Two pools, not a lot of activities going on, but amenities are offered. Decent laundry room with a dozen washers and dryers. Hang out at the pool while clothes wash or dry. The staff and residents are the friendliest we've experienced. Still tho, ask for a pull through. Otherwise you will back up in a tight spot, next to a permanent park model home. Huge dog park is too big and needs to be fenced off into 4 separate areas. Not in downtown c, but still close to it.

Retreat from the cold northern weather

This is a 55 plus retirement RV community. Daily weekly and monthly rates. Full hookups with 30 or 50 amp. It is tidy and clean clean clean.

The common amenities include a saltwater swimming pool with water aerobics at 8:30 daily, a hot tub that seats 9, a game room, a lending library packed full of every genre of book imaginable, puzzles and DVDs, a billiard room with four tables, a massive laundry area. Laundry is $1.75 for wash and the same for drying.

There is shuffleboard court, a common area for barbecuing and an evening fire pit, and a recreation room. Right now, the recreation room and shuffleboard are closed because the real season does not start until about November.

Some people say the water in Yuma taste funny so they have filtered water for sale for a dollar for 5 gallons or 25 cents for 1 gallon.

The office staff is extra helpful and friendly. They gave us great suggestions for local restaurants and other services we were needing.

            Perfect!

We stayed at this property for 2 week in January of 2021.  There are bathrooms on site with showers as well that were very clean.  We spent a lot of time in the pool and hot tub.  Other amenities are a game room, adult center, Laundry, shuffleboard, fitness center, and horseshoes.  We had a FHU site on a level rock pad.  A fire ring or picnic table was not provided.  There are marine jet that pass by often as well as a train many times a day.

            Away from everything

It is an easy thirty or forty minutes to a gas station so fill up when you see the Circle K and Chevron next to each other if coming from Yuma.  If coming from the north Quartzsite is probably your last chance for gas.  It is in the middle of nothing and nowhere, a little oasis with little to no cellphone signal.  The roads are currently undergoing heavy upgrading so be ready for long travel times and keep an eye out for the wildlife at night.  It was easily over 100F so the water feels nice.  They are currently waiting on their own motorized equipment but until it is ready you can still rent paddle boards and the like to go on the water.

As noted in other reviews the sites are water and electric only with no dumpsite.  The sites are almost on top of one another as well.  We had enough room to use our picnic table between our camper and the slide out of the fifth wheel next to us.  The camper on our other side was in a similar situation.  The sites back right up to the water.  If you are looking to lose yourself for a few days, this is the place.  The store packs the basics to include ice.

            Beautiful and remote

Once you leave I-8 it’s about 35-55 minutes back to major services. I hear Fischer’s Landing has a new convenience store. The office has beer, soft drinks and a few choices of hard stuff. The RV pads are cement and level. Our rig is 24 feet and we fit very well on the pad. This is a military only facility so you must be either active duty or retired to utilize. The description says “full hookup” but alas, it is only electric and water. The electric service is only 50 amp (I noted that in a prior review, thank you for the warning). An 50 to 30 adapter is a good thing to have and it worked flawless. The water pressure is very adequate. I would definitely make this a come back to place. The park staff were extremely helpful. When we left, we turn right at the access road to Fischer’s Landing. The dump station is in the screen building with all the golf carts, this is to the left of the store. The screen door is unlocked. You will find the key for the dump station padlock hanging by a 2” piece of pvc pipe. There is a lock box next to it. The cost is $5.00 to dump. It’s on the Pooh honor system, which I found very cool. There is also attached non potable water hose for tank flush out. A bit inconvenient if staying a month but a day or two was no problem.

            Yuma Lakes RV Resort

            Members only resort

Their website is a bit misleading, it is not clear that the resort is open for members only. Not knowing that we called to make the reservation for 3 nights. When we arrived we were told that we should attend a 90 minute presentation. We attended the presentation, but we didn't buy the membership, so now we can't go there until we wait for 2 years and attend another 90 minutes presentation. Otherwise the resort is very nice, considering that it is in the middle of the desert. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The grounds are well kept, bathrooms are clean, there is a fenced area for doggies. If you have a fishing license, you can fish in the lake. They also organize all kind of community programs, bingo, pool games, live bands, etc, that we didn't attend, because of the pandemic. We enjoyed our stay there.

            Lake Martinez Recreation Area

            Great location, questionable staff

Quiet, clean, remote little military family camp on Lake Martinez with concrete RV sites and full hook ups, 50 amp electric only, but they have a loaner 30 amp adapter if they can find it. Park models and cabins available for those who do not tent camp or RV. Various types of water craft available for rent and limited docking for your own boat.

Easy to get camp site reservations in Summer. Have not tried here in winter as the place fills up with military retirees/ snow birds.

Staff on the other hand is mentally lost at best. Seems like they don’t really know what’s what most of the time ( refer back to the 50/30 amp adaptor that they usually can’t find as their storage location is on the floor beside the desk). The store is adequately stocked with alcohol, USMC souvenirs, but very lacking the things campers need most often, ie toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap etc. they don’t even sell popcorn, how can one camp without popcorn.

Despite the “lost in space” staff and the “non” mercantile in a remote place, I give this place 4 stars as it is quiet, inexpensive and a great little spot away from the city.

            Encore Cactus Gardens

            Age qualified RV resort

This campground was not too far from main towns or stores (like Walmart) but the general area has very poor cellular reception (at least in regards to T-mobile). The resort offers WiFi, but it is only in the library area.

This resort had many people permanently living there, so there was a well established and very organized daily event ritual. There were always some kind of game or potluck happening.

The resort has a heated pool and a hot tub. There were many game rooms that contained dart boards, pool tables, and card tables. There was a shuffleboard area, a library and a laundry room. As most resorts go, it also had group shower rooms available.

The water pressure here was poor. Since I have an on demand water heater, I spent my time here on dry camp mode.

          Guide to Winterhaven

Camping near Winterhaven, California, offers a mix of beautiful landscapes and unique experiences. Whether you're into RVing or tent camping, there are plenty of spots to explore.

          What to do:

          • Explore the outdoors: The area is great for hiking and birdwatching. One camper mentioned, "Beautiful sunsets and lots of birds chirping. A very lovely spot to be… but with lots of company," while enjoying the views at Mittry Lake Wildlife Area.
          • Water activities: If you love water, check out T.K. Jones Campground at Squaw Lake. A visitor said, "Great access for swimming and fishing," making it a perfect spot for water lovers.
          • Off-roading: For those who enjoy off-roading, Glamis Flats is a must-visit. One camper noted, "If you like to drive off-road, this is the place for you!"

          What campers like:

          • Community feel: Campers at Encore Suni Sands appreciate the friendly atmosphere. One reviewer shared, "We have been invited to parties throughout the park," highlighting the welcoming vibe.
          • Clean facilities: Many campers enjoy the cleanliness of the campgrounds. A visitor at Walter's Camp RV Park & Campground said, "Clean camp, showers with great pressure and plenty of hot water."
          • Secluded spots: Campers at Lake Mittry Wildlife Designated Camping Area appreciate the option to find quiet areas. One review stated, "Camp close or far from others... how adventurous are you?"

          What you should know:

          • Limited amenities: Many campgrounds, like Pilot Knob Long Term Visitor Area, have minimal facilities. A camper mentioned, "Only garbage dumpsters, no water, RV dump," so be prepared for dry camping.
          • Busy during peak season: Campgrounds can get crowded, especially during weekends. One camper at Mittry Lake Wildlife Area noted, "This is a busy area with lots of folks around."
          • Wildlife encounters: Be aware of wildlife in the area. A visitor at BLM Imperial Dam Long Term Visitor Area mentioned, "Cell service is strong during the day, perfect for remote work, but at 3-4 pm good luck!" indicating that wildlife can be active during certain times.

          Tips for camping with families:
