TravelerOur camp spot was great exactly as pictured, quiet and peaceful. Bathhouse and laundry room filthy and you had to pay to take a shower like a car wash. Just saying if you’re going to charge people to take a shower you could at least clean it. As much as they charge per night shouldn’t be charging anyways . But the spot was nice.
GuideHad a nice site under a tree that was dripping sap everywhere! We could only use one end of the site table & things were still sticky! Enjoyed walking about the area and could see the nice stream below. There were so many 🦟 & biting flys that our one dog didn’t want to come out of our van, he also had sap on the bottom of his paws. This area is free, but there is a volunteer camp host that occasionally comes around to check you are not parked on the dirt areas. It is beautiful country and there is a very narrow road pass going towards Troy Meadows/Bakersfield/Lake Isabella that we enjoyed. Need to stop in at General Store for a beer!
GuideMy husband and I spent two nights there while traveling to the national parks. It was a bit dirty and packed in. We travel with two dogs, so a dog park is important to us. Their dog park needs a lot of work, it wasn't very clean or well kept.

GuideSequoia trees the size of your freaking house. I’ve had apartment widths smaller than the circumference of these trees. AND this is the only spot that they grow. It feels like you’ve jumped through a portal onto another dreamy, green, forestry, planet. The campground is also rad. All of the amenities are there. Good luck not puking on the drive up with all of its hairpin turns. Oh, and the likelihood of seeing a bear is very high. Please prepare for that beforehand so you know the proper ways to handle that.
LegendGot caught in a wind storm and needed to get off the road. This county park was a refuge. Pulled in around 2pm and had many sites to choose from. Got a nice site right on the river. Mostly stayed inside due to the strong winds. Did not see any camp hosts. Nice hot showers. Walking trails along the river and bike paths too.
LegendGotta hit late fall early winter or early spring or else its elbows and Asholes, but there plenty of dispersed camping all around there, but a majo hang out for PCTers to catch a rest so it does get wild and crazy.... but not in the other dates I mentioned Fish in the creek and Major hiking all around... and its free, bathroom are just pit potties, and MOST sites are for tents and not level but ther are enough level ones....I love this place..... when there are no people here!
