Long Meadow Group Campground

A really nice drive along the river takes you right to this campsite.

Some parts of the campground were very quiet, some parts were busier. If your site is close enough to the water, you’ll hear frogs and critters at night which I loved.

Close to lots of recreation and activities places to rent river accessories.

I really loved this campsite. It's not too big and you get a lot of privacy and shade with the trees. There are bathrooms and a water spigot throughout the site which makes things a lot easier!

There is direct access to the river. We camped right at the riverfront so it was nice to wake up, step outside out tent and have my morning tea while watching the river flow. 

There are pull up parking spaces to your designated site, a picnic table and a bear locker.

When it's warm you can go tubing in the river.

I'll be going back here in a couple weeks. Loved it!

Not too far of a drive from the town or Sequoia trees. :)

It’s my 4th trip at this campsite, and what brings me back is the seclusion and the amazing night sky. Also, it’s easier to get a spot here last minute, since it’s not as popular. The rangers said that recently, bears have been coming to this area since the recent fires forced them to move. We saw one black bear club that was about 5’6” climbing a tree. It wasn’t aggressive but it was looking for food around  my group as we were packing up.

Pros: 

-2 vault toilets.

-Large space.

-Less popular. Easier to book.

-Walking distance to Trail of 100 Giants.

-There is a store at Camp Nelson.

-No cell service. Download your maps before coming here.

Cons: 

-NO food lockers!! Lock your food in your car, but don’t have the coolers visible because the bears can still see. 

-Only 3 picnic benches. 

-Swarms of flies all over the site! They are vicious. They will try to bite you and eat your food! 

-Also there’s cow poop all over the site (dry and fresh).

PROS: lots of shade in every camp. Our camp was very shady and trees gave it more privacy from our neighbors. We camp near the river so we had a much exciting experience. Host was very welcoming and nice usually they stop by in the evening. You can reserve online that way when you arrive you have a spot saved. Every site has water, this place does have 2 yurt sites which is so incredible, maybe one time we will rent it out but it is a bit pricey. Other than that you have a awesome view of the river, also make sure to wear a vest currents are a bit overwhelming especially for kids. When we stayed there was a little boy who drowned. Please watch over your kids. This river is not something to mess around. If your tubing tie a rope to it.

CONS: gets crowded in the summer, people pass by your site and stare lol.
