My daughter and I were on a road trip from Long Beach, CA to Long Beach, WA this April and visited with friends in nearby Murphys. They recommended Big Trees State Park, so we swung by to see if we could nab a spot to camp; sadly, the campground was still closed for maintenance—tree clearing,…

Great family atmosphere

We loved the Coloma Campground. There were lots of amenities, group areas, large grass are by the river, lots of trails, cabins, a short walk across the bridge to the gold rush park and a great little restaurant for coffee and small plates.

Hidden Jewel

Turtle Rock is a hidden jewel. It is well kept and maintained. Showers are provided for a small fee so make sure you have quarters. Toilets are dispersed throughout the campground. There’s a section for tent camping as well as RV camping. No reservations required as I always drive in whenever…

Nice place

Great lake for swimming and water play. Too warm for trout and too small for kayaks/SUPs. But it does make a beautiful backdrop.
The park is rather spread out, so a bicycle/ebike is a plus. And if you mountain bike, there's some decent trails close by to ride. There's also legit fishing lakes…

We expected a bigger and cleaner area for kids to play in. Unfortunately, the pool area was not to expectations and had a foul smell. My son complained about green mold on the slide. The staff although are friendly and helpful.

Nice campground

Sweet campground. Quiet and peaceful. There were several sites available on a Saturday night (Smokey skies from Sierra fires may have lessened the demand). Easy access sites. Some more private than others. But beautiful setting all around. Can walk 5 minutes to Silver Lake, and to the private…

Solitary and Smokey

My first time towing my Airstream into a campground and I was glad the place was deserted. Not one single other camper. It got even more smoky the next day. I appreciated the water at the site. The lake really low, like all lakes in Cali.

Must be smaller rv

The sites are very unlevel and tight for larger rigs, but in the trees. With the water levels low, it’s a steep hill to lake. Overall, beautiful place but tricky for some trailers and don’t recommend trying to park in the dark.

Excellent spot in Tahoe

A great campsite not too far from South Lake Tahoe. While most campsites are on the smaller size, there are a few which can accommodate larger tents. The hosts were very friendly and on the whole, those who camp here are courteous and respectful of others and the site. I highly recommend this…

Love it here

We love how clean it is, and the staff is friendly. The surrounding areas are woodsy and our dogs love the dog park!

It's an easy to navigate park with many sites on the water. But beware of the bees!
