Best Glamping near Montague, CA

I am in LOVE with this place!!!! I have been to many lakes in northern California but nothing as perfect as this place. I accidentally booked a spot here at Siskiyou but meant to go to lake Shasta and boy was luck on my side!!! We drove past lake Shasta on our way here and it didnt have many trees and it was 104 degrees. We drove another 40 or so minutes to lake Siskiyou and the trees are so beautiful and you have the most gorgeous view of lake Shasta! Do yourself and your family a favor and book your next camping trip here!

Small campground with river access. Open campsites, set in a canyon. No great hiking options from the campground, but easy access to the river make it a good spot for a hot summer's day.

Tree of Heaven campground is located about 10 miles west of Interstate 5, on a bend in the Klamath River. The closest town for supplies is Yreka, and they should have just about everything you could think of there. The entire campground and day use area are located right on the Klamath River, however there is no direct river access from any of the campsites. You need to walk upstream to find the river access. There is also a trail that starts at campsite 19 that goes downstream for about a half mile, but there isn't river access from there either. The river itself is great to swim, float, or fish in. A number of groups drove upstream a couple miles and floated back down to the campground. You can also float downstream a couple of miles to a haul out point and get a ride back. There is enough room at the day use area to put in kayaks as well. Campsite 19 was great. It was at the end of the loop and had 3 flat areas that were terraced into the hillside. It would be great if you were setting up multiple tents, so you weren't right on top of each other. The restrooms were very clean, and there was drinking water all through the campground. The host sells firewood and rented inner tubes, but I imagine the inner tube thing would vary depending on the camp host at the time. No showers, but with the river right there, you don't really need any. There is some poison oak in the area, and we spotted a rattlesnake, so keep your eye out with pets or kids. As you can see in the photos below, it was really smokey from fires in the area during our visit, but I would love to go back again when it is clear. There is no light pollution nearby so I bet the star gazing would be fantastic.

Great camping area, multiple clean restrooms located close to the camp sites. Free firewood and great river access.

Named for a unique tree that grows here, Tree of Heaven Campground is a sweet little spot. I had tent site right on the river and nearly had the place to myself. Basically it’s set up as a loop with a large grassy area and restrooms in the middle, and a put in spot for rafters up near the larger beach. Peak summer months are very warm and ticks are plentiful, especially in the grassy areas.

We stopped here on a road trip along Interstate 5. The location was conveniently close to the freeway, but still felt like a real campsite instead of traveler's stop. We couldn't hear the freeway and it had nice amenities like flush toilets. Our site was also pretty shady, which was nice in summer. It was pretty scenic; we were located just by a walking path and with a view of the river, however, the camp host did not enforce quiet hours. The large group next to us was extremely drunk and noisy and nobody ever stopped by. They took off the next morning (loudly exclaiming that they needed to pack up to avoid paying), so there was likely never an interaction with the host. We arrived late and couldn't leave to alert the host as it didn't feel safe to do so. I'm not sure where the host is situated in relation to where we were, but I suspect you could hear the party throughout the camp, throughout the night, so we were surprised that no action was taken. It didn't feel safe.

This is a beautiful campsite, spacious spots for tents and RV. Camp host was very cool. Lots of things to do swimming fishing hiking. Very quiet. Loved this place, definitely coming back here!

We were looking for something about halfway between SF and Portland. This was a convenient spot since it's close enough to the Oregon border, located close to Yreka and just far enough off the 1-5 to make you feel like you're off the beaten path. The camp is right on the Klamath! It's a pretty typical campground. Good tree cover but not a lot of privacy between spots. It served the purpose we needed and would consider using it again for pitstops, but nothing so special that I'd go out of my way to spend several days there unless you planned on finding river access to play in the Klamath.

During the day it was busy as it is a key location for 1/2 day rafting trips on the Klamath. We weren't rafting but did enjoy the cool water. Didn't seem to be much in the way of activity to do if you weren't rafting. Trails in the area were very short. In the evening it cooled off and got nice and quiet. Sites were large. Hosts were friendly. Toilets were cleaned daily and not overly odorous. Great access to the i5 if you are travelling. The site we were on had limited shade.

Lovely campground next to the Klamath River. Sites were fairly large and private. Not RV friendly but great for tents. Water available. Clean pit toilets. Campground is slightly close to road but not annoyingly so. Limited hiking from campground.

Walking distance to the water. Lots of obsidian with just a short walk. Very beautiful and secluded. Not many people and camp spots are located very far apart. Highly recommend. Nice star viewing.

When I'm up in Mt. Shasta this is where I camp. It's easy for both vanlife and tent camping as well as car camping. 

I hesitate to tell anyone about this place because it's one of the less expensive campgrounds in the state, has a group camp, and the sites are far enough apart to offer some privacy. It's very basic. No showers. But there are vault toilets. The running water comes down the mountain in the form of a creek, and there is a water pump at the well for those who would rather not test their constitution with the stream. 

The elevation is not as high as Panther Meadows and the access to the camp at McBride is easier.

Deer wander through the campground and sometimes visit the tents.

Bring everything you need or plan on running into town (about seven miles) to go shopping or out for meals. It's about another seven or eight miles to the Old Ski Bowl trail head where both campers and locals gather to watch the sun rise or set over the mountains.

There are 14 camp grounds. About 7/8 have bear bins. There is no water right now because the spring/well is dried up)-: there are fire rings on about 1/2 the camp cites. Bathrooms are close but, kinda gross. Nice shade and trees to slack line. No camp host so but fire wood and in town. Very close to town about 10 minutes or so. You can also drive down the road farther and just get free dispersed camping.

This campground had a paved road throughout and had a water spigot and vault toilets. Each site had a fire pit with a grate, a table, and a bear box. Site 9 is the camp hosts. It is a first come first serve campsite.

We stayed at site 1 and had pretty nice afternoon shade. Our drive-in lot was pretty level. The bathrooms were clean and had toilet paper. We have T-Mobile and had great reception. It got a little windy but we we slept in our van so we did not have to worry about our stuff blowing away.

The campsite itself was a short walk from a few great hike. The Muir Acsencion was the one we took.

Beautiful shaded spots, first come, no reservations. Self pay kiosk, not very many spots. You can park 1-2 vehicles or very small camper.

Cute town and peaceful campground. Clean bathrooms and showers. Pool, game room, shuffle board, basketball court and off leash dog park. Lots of trees in the sites great for hammocking (in the tent sites). I would definitely stay here again.

I generally don't like KOA campgrounds because they feel like small cities. This KOA is different in that even though it has all the amenities and comforts of home it still is removed enough from the hussle and bussles of the city.

Nice size campsites and well maintained facilities.

Great black berry picking through out the campsite and a short walk to Mount Shasta city down town area.

It fills up fast so it's best to make reservations.

Arrived after office closure and paperwork was waiting for us on the board. Good restroom conditions, sink for cleaning dishes after cooking and eating.
