Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Montague, CA

Yreka RV Park accommodates pets within its tent sites, RV spots, and cabin accommodations. Located at 767 Montague Road, this established campground maintains a 4.5-star rating and offers full hookups including electric, sewer, and water connections for campers with pets. Waiiaka RV Park and Blue Heron RV Park also welcome pets, with Blue Heron providing river access along the Klamath where dogs can cool off during warmer months. Most campgrounds in the area implement standard pet policies requiring leashed pets outside of designated pet areas. The Waiiaka RV Park features a small but well-maintained dog park with waste bags provided on site, while staff frequently check on campers during setup to ensure pet owners have everything they need.

Martins Dairy Campground permits dogs throughout its primitive camping area and provides access to a small stream that flows through the property, offering pets a place to wade during hot summer days. Located about 30 minutes from Interstate 5, this secluded site charges $10 per night and maintains exceptionally clean facilities despite its remote setting. The campground is surrounded by barbed wire fencing, which helps keep local cattle out while containing pets within the camping area. Iron Gate Reservoir at Camp Creek allows pets but campers should be cautious of thorns that can injure dogs' paws, as several visitors reported removing multiple thorns from their pets after exploring the shoreline. When camping with pets in the Montague area, visitors should pack extra water, as many of the primitive campgrounds don't offer reliable water sources for pets during peak summer months.

    Southern Oregon RV Park

    Park with all the bells

We stay here often on our migration from PNW to the Desert for winter. It is a extremely well run park, with immaculate bathrooms and well groomed sites. Sites have concrete pad, fire pit and table with FHU. An easy off of Highway 5 and close to Costco and many restaurants. Small lake/pond with walking trail around and extra large Dog Park.

    Waiiaka RV Park

Good place to stop for the night

We stayed overnight on the way to New Mexico. It was clean, quiet, close enough to the freeway to be convenient without being loud. Dog park and playground were small, campsite were packed close together. It was generally nice but unremarkable.

Great camping for tent or RV

We highly recommend this campground as they have all the amenities…a general store, boat rental, cabin rental, activities for the kiddos, a dog park and pub. Water, toilets and showers are readily available, though a bit in need of a good coat of paint and showers need cleaning/updating .

    Waiiaka RV Park

Nice & Clean RV Park, Tight Spaces

I stayed at this park with my daughter and dog for one night while passing through.

The facilities are very clean, showers have nice hot water for a minimal fee.

The dog park is small, but well maintained with poop bags on site for your use.

The RV Park workers were fantastic, checked on us during set up to make sure we had what we needed.

There are obviously quite a few long term renters at the park, but they showed pride in there homes and area. Everyone’s areas were clean and orderly, and the park was incredibly quiet.

Only down side is the sites are tightly packed together. My door was only a couple off feet off of my neighbors hook ups. When the camper next to us packed up in the morning, we were outside by our door. The smell of sewage was pretty strong, we just went in our camper and waited for him to finish up.

Worth a stop for the money if your going to be in the area.

    Southern Oregon RV Park

    Clean, quality, well managed

Nice landscaping, mainly level paved sites, a little grass and cement for picnic table. Entirely fenced for security although people are getting in at front entrance. Noticed people biking through in middle of night. Small dog area; too small. Not enough places to walk dog on grass; almost entire park is paved. Trail outside park is long but right next to I5. Traffic noise in park is intense. 14 day max stay. Very nice hosts. Facilities are top notch. Trash cans well distributed throughout park for convenience as are shower/restroom facilities. Someone is feeding feral cats! Severe nuisance!!

    Trailer Lane Campground

    Great place to stay!

Wonderful place to stay! Very nice little campground in Weed, CA. We originally were just stopping for the night so I had reserved a 50 amp pull thru, but we had some problems with our fifth wheel and my husband wanted some shade to work on it. Karen was nice enough to juggle reservations and get us in a 30 amp back in that had shade. Plus, we ended up staying for two nights. Karen was very accommodating and helpful and we really appreciated it! The campground is fun, has some outdoor games, a small dog park, and a community fire pit. And visiting the goats and chickens was definitely a bonus! I highly recommend Trailer Lane Campground and would definitely stay there again! We didn't use the bathrooms or laundry.

Located at the northern end of Shasta Valley at 2,539 feet elevation, the area experiences hot summers with temperatures often reaching the upper 90s, while winters bring cooler temperatures and occasional snow. Free dispersed camping options require preparation as most sites don't have trash services or maintained facilities.

What Campers Like

Clean facilities: Trailer Lane Campground receives praise for its maintenance standards. "The Campground is well groomed and maintained. Super clean and our hosts were fantastic," writes Allison A. Similarly, another reviewer notes "Nice showers and bathroom facilities. Clean and well stocked."

Helpful staff: Many campgrounds feature attentive hosts. At Waiiaka RV Park, campers mention "Staff is very friendly! Popcorn served every afternoon." Another reviewer notes the "RV Park workers were fantastic, checked on us during set up to make sure we had what we needed."

What You Should Know

Water availability: During summer months, water sources become unreliable at primitive sites. At Iron Gate Reservoir, one camper noted "Water spigots for campers although they hadn't been turned on." Pack extra water for both humans and pets.

Seasonal considerations: Campgrounds at higher elevations can experience extreme temperature changes. "The sunsets are GORGEOUS and stargazing is amazing but it is WINDY and I mean, drops 20 degrees windy, rocks the van windy," reports one camper at Mount Ashland Campground.

Reservation requirements: Many established campgrounds fill quickly during summer. "We only go in the off season due to too many people booking in advance," notes Crystal K. about Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort. Call ahead or book online when planning weekend stays.

Tips for Camping with Families

Kid-friendly activities: Lake Siskiyou Camp Resort offers numerous family options. "Lots campground lots of activities for families clean," writes Meg O. Budget options: Free or low-cost sites can save money for larger groups. Mount Ashland Campground receives positive reviews as a "marked campground that is FREE. Simply follow the road past the ski area and you will find it."

Proximity to conveniences: Some campgrounds provide easy access to supplies. Friendly RV Park offers "walkable access to a couple of fast food restaurants. The location has easy access to groceries and fuel," according to Glen C.

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Many campgrounds have tight spaces. At Friendly RV Park, "Sites are close together however they are staggered to allow for a little more privacy." Another camper noted "There are few places to fit a larger rig. I actually ended up taking two spaces, but they only charge me for one."

Hook-up details: Check what utilities are available before arriving. Waiiaka RV Park offers "full hookups including electric, sewer, and water connections" according to reviews, while other parks may have more limited services.

Accessibility considerations: Access roads vary significantly between campgrounds. For Mount Ashland Campground, one camper advises: "The place to park for vehicles is far from level. Even with camper jacks I was sleeping at an angle. If you have a van or camper I would recommend parking at one of the more level pull offs before the campground."
