The beautiful Lake Minden RV Camping Resort is located in the grassy plains of the Sacramento Valley. Our private 41-acre lake is circled by eucalyptus trees and offers great fishing and boating adventures. The atmosphere of this RV campground in California is relaxing, the staff is friendly and helpful, and there is something for everyone. We are centrally located to several major cities and are a quick getaway as well as a convenient stop-over on the main North-South traveled highways 99 and 70. The area offers many local attractions and things to do. Cal Expo (State Fair), Arco Arena (home of the Kings basketball team) and Sleeptrain Amphitheatre are 20 minutes from the preserve. Old Sacramento is also close by Lake Minden RV Resort and offers the railroad museum and other nostalgic and historic sites as well as shopping and several eateries. Old Sacramento hosts an annual jazz festival, which is a huge event every year. The Yuba-Sutter area, located just outside the RV resort and in California's Central Valley, offers many festivals such as the Bok Kai, peach and prune festivals, and the Marysville Stampede Rodeo. In Lincoln, folks may tour the Feats of Clay pottery works or visit the Thunder Valley Casino. If I could give zero stars, I would. Thousand Trails Lake Minden is very rundown. Immediately upon arrival at this so-called "resort," you can see the neglect from the outset. Their main sign is faded and sunburned, looking like it’s from 1970. The roads are riddled with potholes, none of which are paved. It’s clear the maintenance of this property has been ignored for years.
The "resort" advertises full hookups, but the reality is they have about 20 full hookup sites that can’t accommodate RVs over 35 feet. My 40-foot RV doesn’t fit, so I’m forced to drive around the lake to the non-hookup section, which only has water and power. To dump your tanks, you have to make trips to the dump station—hardly convenient for a place claiming to be a resort.
I paid $10,000 for a lifetime membership that allows me to stay at Thousand Trails properties for 21 days at a time. My mistake was not visiting any of their locations before making this purchase. I strongly urge anyone considering a Thousand Trails membership to visit several of their properties first—it will likely change your mind. Lake Minden is no better than other Thousand Trails locations, and in fact, I’d rank it among the worst.
As a full-time RVer, I’m stuck here for the 21-day maximum, and once that’s up, I’m forced to relocate two hours away to their next nearest property, Ponderosa. I’ll review that location when I arrive, but I don’t have high expectations.
What’s most frustrating is the blatant contradiction between their claims and reality. They require age-appropriate RVs for members, yet I’m parked next to a 20-year-old RV with a blue tarp on the roof. The facility is so poorly maintained it’s a stretch to even call it a campground, let alone a resort.
My regret for buying a Thousand Trails lifetime membership is astronomical. If I knew then what I know now, I would never have spent a dime. Thousand Trails should be ashamed to call themselves a resort. Lake Minden, like many of their properties, is nothing more than a run-down trailer park.
TravelerThis is a nice place to camp. It has a big pond you can go fishing in and it’s quiet. The only thing that I could say needed to be updated is keeping the trees groomed unfortunately we scratched our motorhome coming into the park.

It is the only RV parking in Sacramento that will allow you to stay for one night. Great campground! Hospitality and professionalism- that how you can describe this place! Lots of things to do for kids: great playgrounds, swimming pool, more than 100 ducks going around! Beautiful place! Thank you!

*pros: great little market, very nice staff, clean, great views *cons: rocky watch your step, especially at the beach and a long the shore. Recommend water shoes, although this may only help a little as the rocks are quite large and when can trip over them as much as step on them. they are not round river rocks, but pointy and painful to traverse. *my stay: I was only here for two nights and on the second morning some people pulled in and pitched a tent at 4:30 in the morning. They weren’t particularly loud, but they did curse and had their flashlight bright enough that it shone into my site and RV. Overall, it was still a very pleasant stay for the two nights.

There was no mention of the WIFI being out, but you got to only find that and your space number out when you got there. 70 bucks a night what a RIP! We had a great experience at the Placerville KOA. In this place, I can join many activities such as playing geometry dash lite .The staff was very welcoming and the grounds are organized and clean. The only thing I would suggest is to put in a few more bathrooms around the site. The main building are the only bathrooms. I would suggest a visit. They also have a pool area and hot tub Our friends stayed in the cabins. They were clean and comfortable

BEST campground (resort) we’ve ever stayed!
Even without the countless amenities, this KOA has incredible staff & service. The front desk was super welcoming. They gave us treats and toys for each of our pups. Every time we’ve been into the store the customer service was superb and security drives around at all time to check the place out. 🤩
The amenities were great but some surprise bonus’ were the big game room, TWO doggy pens. A doggy bath and the most clean campgrounds I’ve ever seen. This place is VERY well cared for. We drove 40mins daily in & out of here to visit family and I’d absolutely stay here again.

We spent the weekend for my wife’s birthday. It rained most of Friday and into Saturday but we had a great time. Steve at check in was very helpful, the little store is cool, and the campground is walking distance from the historic town of Coloma and the Argonaut for breakfast and lunch (and Gelato!) Pool, playground, basketball and soccer - will definitely be back with the kids soon.
RangerOverall Collins Lake was a nice camping resort. They have a lot of sites and the facilities are clean. We went towards the end of July and it was 107 degrees. Dogs aren’t allowed on the beaches so we didn’t go down to the lake, which would have been nice to cool off.
It was a good trip despite the heat. It would definitely be better if we had a boat or water “toys”. I would go back, but not in the summer.

Campsites were nicely laid out. Being in the summer, busy as you might expect. Walking around, it looked like several were full time residence not necessarily camp hosts. Some had spider webs growing on them they were sitting so long, others were taking a part, repairing and painting their RV's. Sierra Nevada brewing was a 20 minute ride in the event you are looking to slake a thirst in the hot weather. Staff member Chera was great with the reservations and information.
ScoutStinking flea infested cats roams the property, while infecting your rig with fleas from cats making make shifts homes under your rig. The property is dirty, bug infested, unsecured, fake man made mud hole of a so-called lake. The gall of them to call this place a"Resort" is definitely appalling. The staff tends to lean more on the racist side by having different sets of rules for the African American patrons. I definitely feel sorry for the African American lady that works in the front office having to endure the racial elements from management( the 2 greasy fried chicken eating cows) as well as her co-workers. The front office staff are convinced that piece of dirty crap of a mud hole are some type of relaxing place for families, NOT. That place needs to be torn down. Lake Minden is a dirty drug infested, bug infested, stinking cat infected, trailer trash, of a melting pot for dirty drug addicts, STAFF INCLUDED. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CRAP HOLE TO ANYONE.(DON'T EAT THE🐠)
ScoutI stayed here for a spontaneous mid-week campout and was impressed. Super clean restroom facilities, access to the river, a nice store, and friendly customer service. The spots were a little close together, the parking and restrooms a little bit far from the spot but overall it's a pretty decent spot.
ScoutII only have a camper van but was forced to take an RV site which had amenities I didn’t need. I asked if I would have 120 V access and told I would but there was only 30 amp 240 v. Totally useless for me. Also when I made the reservation I was told check in time was 3 PM and found out later it was 4 PM. There was very little information about what I was getting online, so I depended upon the reservation line to give me exact information. When I called once I got there, the guy was totally rude about it and not helpful at all.
RangerRead the fine print! If you are expecting a full-hookup site, make sure it has septic at your site! Many of the sites are water and electric only, and you have to use the one dump station at the camp entrance for dumping. Kinda inconvenient and not what I would expect for $106 a night! This place gets VERY full on a holiday weekend, noisy, congested. It's the only game in town for a ways, so there you have it.
RangerThe most remarkable thing about SacWest RV park is how convenient it is to the major roads crossing Sacramento, yet you don't hear the freeway noise much at all. There are tons of restaurant, fuel and grocery options nearby. We were only here for 3 nights, but it suited our needs just fine. Nice showers, too!

It was a little challenging getting our 16’ trailer to the pad but it was worth it. So quiet and serene there. I don’t think the bigger rigs would be able to make the turn into the site and the road to the entrance is a bit rough. Don’t miss visiting the covered bridge at South Yuba State Park!
TravelerWe’ve been to Collins Lake a few times and we love it! Lots of different camping spots and the lake is stocked with fish. Ice cream at the store is a must. Wi-Fi connection at the campsite was better than good. Don’t recommend using the last shower on the left in the bathhouse close to the beach. No water pressure at all. Bring your bikes if you have them because the ride to the dam is nice. Spot 73 is an okay spot. Water spigot is way too short and there was a lot of mud and water that wouldn’t drain from site. It’s not listed as such but you can pull through. Anyone that says this place is too crowded with RVs so close to each other has never been to an RV park. At least this place has trees!
ScoutManzanita Rock Meadow was perfect for us. We have a campervan and the spot was level and very clean, affordable, and with great views and even a composting toilet inside a privacy tent. We got to meet Galen when she brought us firewood and she told us about some great trails on the Yuba River to catch some amazing sunsets. We’ll definitely be back next time we are in the area!
ScoutOur experience at Galen’s property was truly magical. We arrived in the early evening just in time to take in a glorious sunset. The solar string lights blinking on at dusk added a cozy ambiance! Galen is a warm and welcoming hostess and we enjoyed connecting with her! We will definitely return if in the area again, thank you Galen!
ScoutGalen was a great host. She told us of some cool hiking trails nearby, and where we could paddleboard. The spot was clean with lots of room to spread out. Our dogs loved it! We really enjoyed making a fire in the Chiminea, and enjoying the string lights that went on at sunset. We’ll definitely come back next time we’re in the area.

It is just a short drive or bike ride to the incredible Yuba River where there is swimming, picnicking and lots of trails to hike. Such a gorgeous area! This camping spot was perfect!
