Meeks Bay

I arrived at my site and was immediately disappointed. Very small parking area and could barely park my small teardrop trailer. Bathrooms are clean and the views in the bay makeup for the small sites. I could hear everything on both sides of me.

Pros: very close access to the beach Friendly Staff Cons: Sites and parking are VERY close to each other. Way too many people packed together Even though you are in Tahoe, it feels like you are camping at a Walmart parking lot.

The scenery and views around this area are absolutely stunning and beautiful. This is a very scenic place

to camp and fish.

The first time we went here we had a the campground all by ourself and 2-3 more campers. So quiet and peaceful and it has an easy access to the beach. It was in June of 2019. The only con was there were a lot of mosquitoes even on daytime. Having had a great experience, we came back the following year in August. But it was a complete disaster. It was a zoo. Parking was so tight. Campers overlapping on each other’s site. We barely had space to set up out tent. We did not even bother to unpack. We just left hastily and went to another campground. Luckily, we got one or else we would have stayed in a hotel. I will definitely not come back here in the summer. Beautiful but out of control campers.

The camp hosts are sweet offer wood, clean bathrooms, and fresh water. The beach is about a 5 minute walk from any spot. Only complaints are the beach is not dog friendly so if you have your dog you can’t go onto the beach but, you can drive close to a dog beach. The spots are also kinda small and close together. They offer bear box’s and fire rings. Very busy site get here early.

I went with my family years ago (handicap access available) but this location was by far my favorite as I have such fond memories of a simple summer there. I remember there were lots of crawfish there and some kids were actually trying to catch them with hotdogs on a small fishing pole! Did not know that those crawfish would actually “bite.” The lake was shimmering and lovely so of course we had to take a dip on a hot summer day. We got into our wet suits and back then, not knowing how to swim properly, we were able to move around the shallow areas and grab ahold of logs/large rocks that were stationed in the water. We didn’t do too many hikes here as the attraction is the lake itself.

Really fantastic beach and boat ramp. The campground itself is very cramped and road noise and the fire station next door were quite noisy. Also, poor bear management as a bear wandered right through the campground each night, leading to pandemonium and more noise from overly panicked campers. Nice location though.

Just a small walk away from Lake Tahoe shore. Big beautiful trees cover the entire campground. A couple bathrooms that surprisingly do not smell bad and have a running faucet. Bears are a real issue, so they have big bear boxes at each site - make sure to use them. Sites close together and not much privacy. Camp Host on site. Very limited parking at the sites, but free parking if you park outside of the campground along the main road and walk in. Do not leave food in your car, especially on the outside. And dont forget to Leave No Trace!

We stayed here for two nights last year during a Northern California Camping trip. This site is on the western side of Lake Tahoe about 20 minutes from South Lake Tahoe. It’s a beautiful lake side campground with a very nice sandy beach for those willing to brave the cool waters. The sites are on top of each other. So you will need to pick your site carefully. This is also a popular campground and you will need to plan ahead or get lucky claiming a walk up site. The camp staff were very helpful and the facilities were great. This is a safe choice for a Tahoe visit, especially those traveling with kids.

Beautiful campsite. Trees were pretty bare so not a lot of privacy from neighbors but a very spacious site. The campground is off of the main road so you could hear cars and motorcycles driving by. However, you have lake “beach” access and it’s a perfect spot to post up for a beach day!

This was a really comfortable campsite! Bathrooms were single person with lights and a mirror! Lot's of families camping, but we were a group of 4 college age students and it was just fine for us. The families were respectful and seemed to be knowledgeable campers. BEST part about the campsite is that it's a 2-5 min walk (depending where your site is) from the lake!! Lake has the CLEAREST water, and if you go out 5 boueys to the left from the bouey furthest right right, you can see "TAHOE" spelled out on the floor of the lake with big rocks. Pretty cool.

Beautiful, quiet, and the sky was magnifisent!

This view of Lake Tahoe is the best because of the way you can actually get a 360 all up in your eye, of the entire lake. They do allow winter camping. But it's pretty awesome in the summertime.

This place is simply beautiful and convenient.
