Nice and friendly little campground

Although we barely saw the sun because the campground was fully shaded by redwoods, it was a great experience. The river looked more like a big puddle of water so there was really nothing to do there. We hiked all the way across the road where the day use area is located. From there, there are several trails, paved and dirt, to reach the beach. A lot of picnic tables and benches to stay on to enjoy the scene and the sound of the waves. Make sure to bring some cash and some quarters. Cash for firewoods being sold by the host and quarters for some nice hot showers.

Sweet little spot

This is our second time here. This is our little spot when we just don’t want to be in the wilderness. There is an access to the river and few steps away from an old small town feel. Lots of local shops and bars right outside the campsite. We spent one afternoon just strolling on the strip and checking out stores. The campground is small. Some sites are sunny and has no shade at all but some are cool and shady. Also, Chris, who manages the site is pretty awesome and nice.

Nice family campground

This is a nice and quiet campground that is great for kids and families. Easy access to a lot of trails. The view from the campground is nice and relaxing. Some sites are very tight and close to each other. Some are spacious enough. We stayed on site 29 which is next to the camp host. We got a shaded part throughout the day which happened to be where the table is positioned and the sunny part, where our vehicle was parked. If you plan on hiking in the summer make sure to bring lots of water. It can get really hot. We had fun hiking and biking overall. They have flush toilet and porta potty throughout the campground as well.

Nice Family Campground

Very large campground with lots of amenities within. There is a small store with the basic essentials, a play area for young kids and of course the main attraction which is an access to the river. There is a kayak rental by the beach area. The scenery along the river is nice. Tent area are okay. There are some with more privacy than the others. We could actually hear the conversations of our neighbors during our stay. The RV site looked more crowded when we were there. They looked like they were in a festival. One area looked very tight but some sites looked dispersed. The only con we had was the restrooms were very scarce for the size of the campground. We had to walk so far to get to the restroom.

Beautiful Campground

Very nice and beautiful campground but can be expensive. The sites are very close to each other but they are spacious. It’s nice to to wake up to the sound of the river and birds singing. This campground is ideal for families and small kids.

Nice and quiet campground

This campground has spacious sites . They have a store that carries most of the essentials. They have clean restrooms. They also have a pool and play area for smaller kids. This is a nice place for families with small kids.

Nice little lake

It is a very nice, little campground. Sites were okay. Not spacious but not too tight either. The lake was warm and it can get a little breezy in the afternoon. Make sure to bring a kayak or SUP board to enjoy the lake. The only con was there were too many duck poop everywhere especially on the beach area. Keep in mind that the road (Mosquito) going here is narrow and too winding. The old bridge can only accommodate one vehicle at a time and RV’s and trailers are advised to take the Rock Creek Road instead.

Very nice campground but can get so crowded

The first time we went here we had a the campground all by ourself and 2-3 more campers. So quiet and peaceful and it has an easy access to the beach. It was in June of 2019. The only con was there were a lot of mosquitoes even on daytime. Having had a great experience, we came back the following year in August. But it was a complete disaster. It was a zoo. Parking was so tight. Campers overlapping on each other’s site. We barely had space to set up out tent. We did not even bother to unpack. We just left hastily and went to another campground. Luckily, we got one or else we would have stayed in a hotel. I will definitely not come back here in the summer. Beautiful but out of control campers.

Nice campground

This campground is great if you have a boat. There is no access to the reservoir. We had to drive to Dark Day Campground to get close to the water. From there, we had a bit of a hike to reach the water. There is no paved trail to get to it. From the parking lot, we just went in from any opening going to the woods. There is no beach area as well. Mostly we saw a bunch of teenagers who were diving and hanging out on their floaters. The view and scenery was beautiful but it’s not really for swimming unless you have a boat. Also, my kids did not enjoy the mosquitoes and bears. If you are looking for a quiet campground, definitely not this. People arrive late at night and past midnight and lots of generator noises as well. A lot of yelling and late night parties as well.

Beautiful campground!

We arrived on a Monday and the campground was almost empty. Every site around us looked reserved but no one was there. The place is small and sites are tight. So if you happen to be here on those days that it’s full, I would think you will not have some sort of privacy at all. But because our timing was perfect, it felt like we had the whole place for ourselves. The lake was great! Very clean shores except for some dog poop.
