Sandy sites spread along the edge of Kelso Dunes offer direct access to the towering sand formations that define this corner of Mojave National Preserve. The National Park Service maintains approximately 8-10 dispersed sites on flat terrain, with fire rings provided and space for large RVs up to 20 feet. Campers pull up right to the dune boundary, where wide open desert stretches toward mountain views.
Basic amenities include pit toilets, though visitors must pack in water and pack out all trash. The sandy ground works well for pets, and occasional cell service reaches one bar on Verizon. Sites space well apart from each other, creating a quiet base for exploring the dunes on foot or simply taking in the expansive desert landscape.
