Angeles National Forest includes Cottonwood Campground, a US Forest Service site that remains permanently closed due to abandonment and disrepair. Located near Castaic Lake and a creek, the campground once featured drive-in access and decently sized sites with some privacy between them. Years of zero maintenance have left the area completely overgrown and washed out, making it unsuitable for camping. The Forest Service has not indicated plans to restore the facility. Campers exploring the region should consider campsites near Lake Hughes or other sites around Angeles National Forest for viable alternatives.
