Where the Medicine Lake highlands meet Modoc National Forest, Schonchin Springs Campground operates as a Forest Service facility from July through October. The campground accommodates RVs up to 20 feet and provides standard amenities including toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings. Pet owners can bring their dogs along for the mountain camping experience.
Located near a lake, the campground sits within easy reach of several other Forest Service sites, including Headquarters Campground just half a mile south. The seasonal operation aligns with high-country weather patterns, making this a summer and early fall destination for campers exploring the volcanic landscape of northeastern California.
Description
This little campground is approximately 1 mile from the Headquarters Campground and gets most of it's use when the 4 other Medicine Lake Campgrounds are full. If you are looking for close proximity to the lake but would prefer a quiet, more secluded environment, try Schonchin Springs Campground.
